So far I have heard that the Eibach pro-kit and KYB AGX's are the way to go. I was just wondering if anyone had any different set ups that work better (keep in mind I will be autocrossing). Any advice would be appreciated !

coilovers would be the best bet in my opinion, and for the price of struts + springs, a nice pair of coilovers wont be too much more...(apexi world sports sub 1k)
Koni Yellows are very good struts/shocks
also Adjustable Tokico's are really good....
I dont know if sparco makes those springs but if so we have sparco springs for sale, i just dont remember if they make them for the 240....you can check our site if you want...
But the AGX are very good struts and u will be happy with them : )
i prefer sportlines to the prokit, prokit is almost a stock drop, sportlines drop the car a little lower, if that is important to you...

Is ride quality comprimised with the sportline? Or is it just a bit harder than the Pro-kit?
I know the Pro-kit only lowers it slightly (like an inch), but my car rides pretty rough as it is.

Apexi WS dampers are a little soft for track. I'd avoid those if you're going with coilovers. I have been hearing alot of good things about the JICs and you can check those out at www.autoimaging.com. I have sportlines right now with Tokico's for the time being and they are holding up pretty well. Since AGX's just came out for the s14, I'd suggest those from all the good things I've heard from the s13 guys. Even the honda guys back the AGX's. If you want a more reputable shock brand, go with the Koni Yellows.
Hmm.. There's lots of different springs you can check out though. I was considering H&R at www.tirerack.com. I think those springs give a decent drop and are tight for the street and track. My friend has those on an 3rd gen rx7 right now and I haven't heard any complaints from him. Any questions, just ask and I'm sure a zilvia member will be able to help.

I think the spring rate is higher on the Sportlines because they compensate for the lower drop (someone correct me if i'm wrong, just assuming). I think the ride quality would really depend on the roads you daily drive. There's a lot of bumps in my area, so of course, I have to expect the ride to be quite bumpy. Although with Pro-kits, you don't have to worry about stupid speed bumps because it doesn't lower your car much

Very easy, save your milk money and get a set of Apex'I N1 Coilovers. $1600 or so from www.nopi.com
Have a nice day.

sportlines arent really stiff, ride quality is still good, and the drop looks much nicer compared to pro-kit.
The ride wont be do rough with progressive springs
I would also recommend RSR springs, they are really nice as well, but don't lower quite as much as sportlines.
AGX shocks are a good and cost effective way to go.
I've heard nothing but good thing about the AGX's, but I couldn't wait so I got GAB SuperHP's for my '98 last spring. damn my impatience! Anyway, I'm running them with H&R Sports and the combo is very nice... Check my sig site for more info.
You should also keep in mind that most off-the-shelf springs that you can buy for a shock/spring setup will have progressive springs. That is, they will be soft for daily driving (comfortabble) but get stiffer and stiffer the more they get pushed.
Or, that's how I understand progressive springs to behave... someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I personally went the coilover way, and picked up a set of (very sexy) JIC Magic FLT-A2s; probably the best bang-for-your-buck coilover on the market today, less the Tein HEs which have, word has it, been discontinued.

How much did you get the GABs for anyways? Another thing, your speedometer goes up to 200 MPH! Oh, nevermind, I guess it's actually 200 KPH.

Id recommend the eibach sportlines, i have them on my 97 240sx and they work great even with stock shocks. The ride is a little stiff but not too stiff in my opinion and the handling is really good now. Im planning on getting the koni yellows since ive heard alot of good things about them.

What is best for what?
The suspension you chose has a lot to do with what you want. If you are going to be just daily-driving, you don't have any need for a full coilover set up... especially one like the N1 that is designed for regular maintenance. Similarly, if you are autoxing, you don't want Sportlines b/c they are too low for their weak rates. How are the roads were you live? All of these are considerations.

I LIVE IN ST. LOUIS AND THE ROADS ARE ALL CHEWED UP. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SET-UP THAT FITS WITH EVERDAY DRIVING AS WELL AS AUTOCROSSING. AND OF COURSE, I NEED TO FIND THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE SET-UP AS POSSIBLE.
THANKS FOR ALL OF THE ADVICE, I HAD ONLY HEARD OF A FEW OF THE CHOICES AVAILABLE FOR 240'S. NOW I HAVE A BIGGER DECISION TO MAKE THAN BEFORE.

What's with the caps?
I think the JIC Magic FLT-A2 coilovers are the best pick.
Checkout Digital Racer (http://www.digitalracer.com) for a good price on a set.
As for me I'm going for springs/shocks.....Tanabe's and AGX's.

FORGIVE THE ALL CAPS, I AM AT WORK WHERE I HAVE TO USE CAPS AND I FORGET TO SWITCH OVER. I PROMISE I AM NOT YELLING.

WHOA! Dat's a lotta caps! J/K
Anyways...I have GAB Super HPs on my S14 with H&R's...I'm about to change over to Tanabe Sustec Super H springs, which are a single rate spring, instead of progressive like the H&R's. I haven't minded the H&R's much, but they seemed to have sagged over the time I've owned them (couple years). They say they're only supposed to drop the car 1.3/1.4 inches F/R, but it sure seems much more than that. As for auto Xing setups, coilovers is most definitely the best way to go. If you can afford them, I'd go for either JIC FLT-A2, Zeal Function B2's or B6's, or possibly Tein. I'm very curious about the Tein Flex type coilovers...especially since you can get the EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) for them, which allows you to change the stiffness of the shocks from within the car.

Wow - caps are not my friend.
Anyway - I guess there is now another set of questions. What sanctioning body do you run with and what is their rule on classing with coilovers? I don't run autox anymore, so I don't know the current state of the rules - but I know that before in SCCA events, a pillow mount and camber adjustment would land you in street prepared (CSP) where you will get the holy hell kicked out of you by CRXs. Basic springs/shocks will get you to STS and just shocks gets you into E-Stock. If you want to be competitive, go ES. Close to competitive, go STS. Blown out of the water - CSP.
Next issue - roads. If you roads are sh!tty, consider that a high spring rate competition designed coilover set up might not be the best thing. They are harsh. (as is any higher rate linear spring/shock combo). If it is predominantly street driving you do with a mix of autox (i.e., you don't plan to do a tour, etc.), there are several progressive springs that will raise the limits of the car without creating a kidney punishing ride. Eibach Pro-Kits and H&Rs have both been met with some success around here.
nismo - the EDFC will bump you into "Prepared" class where you will see things that don't even resemble cars! Those things just aren't allowed in autox. Besides - how often do you really think you will need to change suspension settings without stopping? (personally, about as often as I'd need to watch a DVD on my stereo )

Yep, pillowball mounts and the EDFC are both expressly forbidden in STS. STS is probably where you'd want to be with an S14, if you want to be competitive now. The 240SX and most of the cars you'd see in STS are all in GS now. I think the 240SX has a lot more to gain from the STS-legal bolt-ons than the sporty economy cars it's classed with in both GS and STS.
I think coils are overkill for this, especially with bad roads. I say go with a good progressive spring and the KYB AGX.

Why is there so much hate for all caps?
I am in the SCCA, Solo II. I haven't got the rule book yet but from what I've read the pillow mount/camber adj is CSP. This is not where I want to be, especially since I am a novice. STS is where I will be competing. I won't be touring, I will be mainly street driving with a twist of autox'ing.
Roads are very crappy--craters, ruts, gravel, construction zone after construction zone. Oh, and my wallet isn't thick! EDFC's sound cool, but I don't want to get a second job to support my car habit (although I might have to)!!!

That's what I'd hoped you'd say.
In that case, I'd definately go with a progressive spring. Which one is the problem. Personally, I wouldn't do Sportlines b/c they are too low for the added spring rates. If you are running really nice short stroke shocks (like Tok. HTS or GAB's) they should work. Otherwise, you WILL see your bumpstops - which sucks.
My question would be Pro-Kits, H&R's, or something more exotic? I couldn't tell you - I think personal taste comes into play too much. IIRC, Travis has H&Rs, several have Pro-Kits and some have the JDMish ones.
Ryan - nice catch. I keep wanting to forget that we are in GS now and not ES. Some day I'll remember

So if you lower with Sportlines and you use a camber correction kit, it will land you in CSP? Ouuch!!! If that's true, then there goes that choice.

I wonder why no one mentioned the HKS Hypermax II? Personally, that's what I'm going for. Ridehight adjustable, 30 way dampening adjustable, a little on the pricy side, but worth the money IMHO.
