OS gikeen twin plate

Hi all,

Having an issue installing an OS twin plate clutch and flywheel in a buddies car. The clutch/flywheel came out of another running, moving sr20 240.

The shim between the bellhousing/engine is present, and a twin plate throwout bearing is being used that we ordered from phase2.

With the slave cylinder fully bottomed out, I cannot line it up with the bolt holes.....the clutch fork is to far forward not allowing me to line the slave up.

anybody ever experience a similar issue installing a twin disk clutch/flywheel combo?

So by "bottomed out" you mean the "rod" on the slave is pushed as far in as you can get it?

Try actually breaking the line (undo the nearest fitting), to release all pressure. This has been an issue for me in the past (usually because I accidentally hit the clutch pedal when the slave is disconnected, sending it ALL the way out).

Anyhow, once you break the pressure, the rod slides back even further into the slave, and it goes right on :)

its fully bottomed, I cracked the bleeder and sent it to the bottom of its travel.

the fork sticking out of the tranny is the issue.

I just dont know what to do about it??

Hmph. I really thought it would be a simple fix, given the description.

I haven't dealt with a twin-plate clutch in over 2 years, I don't remember what tricks there are - you said you have the shim, and presumably the correct throwout bearing (bearing thickness is an issue, but again, if phase2 says you've got the right one, you have to assume that you do). The fork is the only other issue, and if the fork is "bottomed" correctly (meaning pushed all the way onto the moving piece, not hanging on by the ends of it's "prongs") then it should just barely stick out of the bellhousing, and be far enough back to barely get the slave on there.

yes its a way harder push.. i remember stripping one of my bell housing threads for the slave on my s13...push hard...lol

Umm...I got a feeling your dropping the tranny again cuz I get how you changed the TOB for the OS Gilken one, but did you change the carrier too?!?! OS Gilken Twin plate carriers are shorter. I know because I just dropped my Twin plate and looked at the carrier and it is shorter than stock, even shorter than the carrier for my ORC single plate that I put in.

Im planning to shorten the stocker up a bit on a belt sander.

that would be great man, hope you can get around to doing that for me!

The T.O bearing sits on a shelf though....looks like a belt sander will not be capable of tackling this job.....A bridgeport is in order.

haha! your running into the same problem as i did with my rb your suppose to take 4.5mm of the centerpiece that carries the throwout bearing and than the clutch will properly let disangagement
