Has anyone ever taken apart their cruise control switch to change the bulbs? I took mine apart and now im not sure how it goes back together. There are two tiny metal balls and a short spring. I know where the short springs goes but im not sure where the two little balls go. Also the curise control on my s14 doesnt work do you guys think it could be the switch? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

bump anyone? I guess I might have to get another switch. What about my cruise not working? Are there anythings to look for other than the typical fuses etc. ? Thanks

Read the FSM, there's a full diagnostic process. Too many parts to just guess.

those two little ball bearings are bearings that go inside the switch with the springs. Unfortunately I don't remember if they go in first or sit atop the springs. I do remember that the springs sit/slide inside a channel & the bearings I think sit on top of the spring. I took my switch apart years ago to replace the burnt out bulbs inside the switch.

As for your cruise control not working, it could be something as simple as a disconnected/cut vacuum hose from your cruise control unit underneath your hood on the passenger side by the windshield wiper motor to something like a bad/dirty/open connection on your cruise control system. Check the switches on your brake & clutch, (if you have it), pedal(s).

Like Russ said, get your hands on a FSM....it should make troubleshooting your problems easier. Working on the cruise control system isn't that hard. You just need the FSM to troubleshoot the cause of your problem.

Anyhow, hope this helps!!

Thanks for the reply! I tried putting both of the ball bearings back in but only one fits. I will mess around with it and see if I can get it back together.
