Off Topic Question: Nissan Maxima

I Have a 1990 Nissan Maxima which has a dead Automatic Transmission.  Does anyone know the process in which to convert it to a manual?  Is it worth the time?  Or should i stick with the Automatic?

not sure about how to do it..try a search cuz i thought i rememberd somebody posting how and wat to get, well for a 240sx not sure about Maxima. try some Maxima forums they have to have some. try Freshalloy.com they might have something

i swapped my fwd sentra to 5 spd i needed a new crossmember, new trans mounts, 5 psd tranny of course, 5 spd speed sensor and crank sensor, cable, shifter rods, brake and clutch pedal.

you would also need a 5 spd tps i havent changed mine yet though it works fine just hunts for idle at times. also a 5 spd ecu but it can work with an auto ecu i am still running my auto ecu still.

keep in mind that 5 spd maxi's that gen where hard to come by. if they have lsd you may need a new pass axle if they were hydraulic which iirc they are you would need the lines m/c s/c etc etc.

or just go to a nissan dealer and ask the parts guy for a big favor and to sit there with you and see what parts are diff for 5 spd and auto thats what i did when i worked at nissan <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> but i knew the guy &nbsp;<img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/music.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':music:'>
