View Full Version : Uneven rear wheels?

Has anyone ended up with the rear wheels on their cars uneven offset wise, even though the wheels/tires are the same size? Could this mean my subframe is bent (or needs to be reset maybe), or simply that the frame is bent? I've had people tell me that it's "just a 240 thing" but it looks like ass having one wheel flush and the other not. I'd like to fix it if I can.

BTW car drives, drifts fine, no (unusual) clunking either.

Thanks.

Are the alignment specs the same. I had a douchebag at a Firestone try to let my car leave with +2.3* camber on one side and +.4* on the other, I was getting impatient until a guy that knew what he was doing fixed it and let me watch because I was paranoid by then.

I haven't had the car professionally aligned, I'm waiting on some new suspension. Awhile back I tried to even out the camber but even with adjusting the RUCAs I couldn't make it even. The driver side wheel has about 3 degrees and tucks nice, the passenger side has less camber yet there is way more clearance (a finger worth) between it and the quarter panel. The whole wheel is sunken in more too.

To start:
Are your fenders rolled?
has the car ever been in a accident that required rear end parts replace?
Are the wheel acutally the same offset? (width isnt the only thing to worry about)
The rims new or used?
Have you tried other rims on the car to see if its the rims or the car?
Look under your car for any obvious damage or somethign that doesnt look right.
Get the car on the alignment rack to see if angles are way off
Is the suspension in good shape(not having a blown strut or something so hieght is not even on both sides.

not all cars were built the same, shape wise. theyre not all exact. spacers!

Both fenders are rolled.

I hit a curb with it a long time ago, like 3 years. But all rear arms minus the lower control arms have been replaced since then. Rucas and coilvers are 3/4years old, toe and trac brand new. (New coilovers are in my room, RUCAs are backordered (from MAX garage).

The wheels are fairly new Work Emotion Cr-kais. The thing is, they are the most flush wheels I ever had, so I didn't notice the difference much before. Other rims show a difference, but not as much, since they're not as flush.

Nothing underneath the car looks out of place.

It's dark out here, I'll take some pics tomorrow. I don't have any that would show it properly.

As for the spacers, yeah I've though of slapping on a 5 or 10mm spacer on one side...but man that's ghetto. Wouldn't really mind it though, this shell needs to get replaced in the coming years anyway. 4 years of events, rust and half-assed solutions...

I just remembered I replaced my 4-lug with a 5-lug setup last year (Ichiba), could that be a factor? Wow tomorrow I'll check that out, a hub coming off at the wrong time would be interesting...

All s13's are like that. Never seen one that has equal clearance out back.

I think i know what you are talking of. It may be a weight distribution thing in the car as well, making it lean towards one side more so. It may not be. If its not a trick of the mind, its more than likely related to the suspension. I think all of my s13's did that, I wouldn't worry.

Well I took some pics today...I didn't switch the works on cause it's damn cold and the fronts already jacked up, but these are enough to get the general idea.

If it is an S13 thing then I guess I won't worry much. Once I get all the new suspension stuff on I'll get an alignment and maybe corner balancing too if it could be weight distribution like opponheimer says.

Thanks for the replies.

Thats a bad way to measure.

Use a ruler.

Your shock/ springs or coilvers could be at different heights.

Put some subframe spacers in the thing and it will go back to being straight! My car did that a long long time ago.

It looks like the passanger side is rolled a bit more.

Use a ruler and measure the distance from the top of the wheel opening, to the coilover.
