ok iam driving to work today and im on the freeway next thing i know i look at my gauge cluster and its not working. the temp gauge, odometer, gas, tach. no longer working. so i get to work and park my car. work for 8 hrs then time to go home. i get to my car try to start it and it does not start. but my lights and all electrical things still work. so i have some co workers help push start it and it starts. so anybody have any input on what could be the problem. i dont think its the battery because we put a jumper on it and it still didnt start with that. although when i bring it home i have it in the garage i push in the clutch and i hear somewhere underneath the car a weird clicking noise ive never heard before.

alternator fuse? when my gauge cluster didn't work it was an alternator fuse. Maybe you grounded something out? I'd start looking there.

Is your S14 lowered?? If it is, then check the fender liner on your front driver wheel. Make sure the tire didn't rub thru the plastic fender liner. If the tire did rub thru the plastic fender liner, then it's possible you could have shorted out the wires on your harness. The tire rubbing on the wiring will burn off the protective plastic covering exposing your wires to each other. You'll have to fix the shorted out wires. After you've done that, then you'll have to reposition the wiring harness with some zipties so it no longer rubs against your tire.
If your S14 isn't lowered, then you probably have an electrical short somewhere causing your dash to lose power. You'll need a Factory Service Manual, (FSM), to check the wiring and your ground points.
As to your car not starting, it could be due to either your electrical problems, (shorted out wires) or your starter / alternator crapping out on you. Usually though, when your alternator dies it ends up draining your battery. Your starter problems could be due to a bad relay, short in the START position on your ignition switch, or a bad starter. But since you say your dash went out on you, check your electrical wiring first. It's probably a bad ground somewhere....
Anyhow, good luck!! Hope this helps....
