I'm in the process of getting the Greddy Full Auto Timer installed in my '95 s14 Silvia. I got all but 2 wires figured out.
Did some research, and it seems the GRAY wire goes to the "shift lock release unit". It is for Japan only, and my car happens to be JDM.
What is the shift lock release unit, auto tranny?
Also, the purple wire going to the ecu's speedometer signal. How do I find where it goes? Japanese instructions have a little black dot over the ecu diagram for an s14... safe to trust this?

i would think the shift lock release would also be the ebrake line. see if you can buy a harness and it should all be plug and play.

You dont need the shift lock release, that should be for AUTO. You got the 2 wires for power, ground, ebrake and the speedo. Wire for that should be a Green/Yellow wire if i remember right...somebody correct me if I got the color backwards.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I already bought a harness, but it's for the ignition.
That pinout site is great, Thanks a lot! +rep
Anyone know for sure what the shift lock release unit is, and why would it not apply to US or Euro s14's?

Again Im pretty sure its for automatics. Automatic cars would get out of park without you stepping on the brake. That wire uses that. Same idea as dropping the ebrake on the manuals. You drop the ebrake, car turns off. You pop the auto out of gear, car dies once you have the timer installed.
EDIT: NVM. I think fliprayzin is right.

Wouldn't this apply to automatic cars in U.S. as well?

VSS is yellow/green. The shift lock wire shuts the turbo timer off if the car is shifted into gear, not all markets have the cable/key lock US cars do.

Cool, thanks. Well, does anyone know where this shift lock release unit/wire is on a Jap s14?

The shift lock unit is built in to the key cylinder through a cable, the actual electric solenoid is located within the shifter assembly.

you should just be able to hook it up to the wire running from the ebrake sensor.

So you have a jdm auto rhd S14?!?! :ghey: I wouldnt worry about the shift lock, as long as you have the e-brake wire hooked up, thatll do enough to shut off the car. the whole idea of both the e-brake wire and the shift lock wire is to turn off the car when somebody tries to run off with your car, while the cars still running with the turbo timer.
