fuel pump question

I didnt search or anything. but im installing a walbro pump and i cut the wires to attach the new harness to it, I just wanna know is it safe with just crimps and electrical tape? am i going to blow up?

yes. you will 'splode. no j/k. the kit should come with new electrical crimps. if it didn't, then go to your local auto parts store and buy some (get wurth brand if you can. they're more $ but by far the best ones i've ever used)

Soldering is usually best, but youll be fine...crimp up, tape up, and go on with it!

If you soder, just make sure you do it NOT in the car near the opened gas tank...

Open wires in the fuel tanks arent going to spark and cause horrendous things to happen, its just when those two wires touch, thats when sparks happen.

walbro does not recommend soldering the wires. i would listen to them....

Ya, they say that for safety reasons. It's the best connection you'll get though(twisting/soldering)... And I wouldn't recommend elec. tape in your gas tank. Haha.

Theres no point in using electrical tape, it'll just fall off.

dont use tape the glue comes off and clogs up your filter, at least mine did.

i pprobably wouldnt use electrical tape.
reason being over time it can get all gunky and the adheasive will wear out and it will fall off and float around in your gas tank....
the tape will be submurged in gas for long periouds of time.
why not go to radio shack and pick up a solder gun for $15 and do it the right way????

You still have to tape up the solder joint, so that's pointless. What you've all failed to mention is heatshrink, however it too will deteriorate in the tank over time. An insulated crimp connector is fine, there's no strain on the wiring or tension of any kind.

You can also do one step better, depin the OE connector, crimp new pins on the Walbro pump's wiring, and repin the connector, making it completely OE and eliminating any other connection point.
