Are you sure it's the valve cover, and not the belts? Squeaking is almost always belts.
The only noise under the valve cover is ticking, or if something's very wrong, a grinding/scraping/snapping. No squeaks.

Bad lifters wouldnt squeek, it would tick more than anything.

Maybe a mouse is stuck under your valve cover?

Dude, you'd have some serious problems if your cams weren't getting oil.... I'd look at the pulleys and belts if I heard squeaking..

did you just finish installing the motor? if not, did you change anything recently? if you did just install your motor. take out your spark plugs, coils, valve cover. unplug CAS and crank motor. see if the oil rails are flowing oil or not. it might take a minute to see if they are or not. if not, does your oil pressure light turn off while cranking for a little bit? if not, you probably have an oil feed/pickup/pump clog and or other problem. if you have oil pressure but nothing is going through the oil rails, you might be able to just take them off, spray some brake cleaner through the banjo and blow some compressed air in there. if you have brake cleaner coming out of the all the little holes on the rail, you should be good. if not, maybe try poking the holes with a needle to open up the holes. hope this helps

ok guys..its official one of my cams arent getting oil, do you guys this its on oil pump problem or a feel line problem?? does anyone know if theres oil diagrams that i can look at to check out where it can be clogged at?

if only one of the cams isn't getting oil, take out the oil feed rail (the tube that goes across the cam lengthwise) and do what I said. just fill the tube with brake cleaner, and if nothing comes out of the little holes along the bottom, take a needle or something like a needle and poke the holes until the brake cleaner comes through the holes. then blow compressed air into the tube to help dislodge the crud more. if the tube isn't clogged, you probably have a problem with something else.

Yup, hopefully that's the only problem. If the oil feed problem is deeper in the block than that, maybe it's worth it to just get a new (used) longblock.

jake: has the motor been running fine before, or is this a new install? what have you done to the motor so far? why did you say you didn't put the rockers in the right place?

i cleaned the rail that goes across the cam and its all good..i was thinking maybe i have a bad oil pump or a bad strainer because non of my lifters ever get filled with oil after i bleed them so some just drain after like 3 days and they get no oil to them to fill them up

this motor was just installed...i took out the lifters to bleed them because they didnt fill up by themselves and it sounded like shit ... and after that i didnt remember where the rockers went

Have you been driving this around? or letting it run for any ammount of time?
take off your oil pressure sender/switch, take off the oil tube for the cam. pour some oil into the bolt hole, then take a Air blow gun and wrap some tape around it to help create a seal, blow clean compressed air into the hole and see if you get oil coming out the sender hole. its possible you have a clog some where, but if this thing has seen any real run time you might have scored the cam journals and closed up the oiling orifices. might be time for a new motor already.
It might be time to take it to a professional and see if you can prevent any further damage unless its already done.

yeah i'll second that idea on taking it somewhere. it sounds like the motor could already be shot. cams spin way too quickly to not have any lubrication. (even at an idle..thats 750 times it spins with no lube.)

i havent really drove it.. i drove it down the street 3 times and back then it seemed like it was getting oil..this whole situation is wierd..

Did you ever build oil pressure before you drove it? Did the motor just get rebuilt. Using the wrong SR head gasket can cause problems with the head not getting any oil. A dented oil pan can cause low oil pressure too. It really sounds like your motor is dead at this point since you have bearing material in the oil pan so anything further is just to find out why but you're going to need to do some motor work or get a new motor.

technically it would be 325 times at idle, one cam rotation for every 2 crank rotations, but that's not the issue here :D .
Jake, bronze in the oil pan is a bad thing. probably bearings. before you took out the lifters and started the car, did it make that squeeking noise as well? or only after?
at this point, i agree with the others and think a new long block is probably going to be your best bet. does the place you bought your motor from have any kind of guarantee or warrantee?

everything was fine until i took out the cams.. i still have oil in my head so it means that its getting upthere, i jsut wanted to know if anyone know how the oil gets up there, and where is the hole where the oil gets sent upthere because i think its full of gunk and its not letting oil get though

Make sure you put the cam towers back on correctly. If you swapped the direction or used the intake in place of the exhaust then the oil feed hole isn't line up and therefore no oil will get to the feed line.

allright...my car started to squeek after a little and there isnt much bearing damage from what i can see there was only a little bit of dust

can you take pics of your head with everything installed and post em?

if you get copper flakes in the oil the bearings are done. it will probably be knocking when you get it running again.

 for some stupid reason i was thinking the other way when i was typing that. nice catch.

im taking off my oil pump to see if thats the problem, do i have to take off my head and oil pans to do that??

i would just strip the thing down and get it ready to take to a machine shop, purchase some new rings and bearings and have it rebuilt.

the head can be left on..but you have to be very careful to not screw up the head gasket (dont forget the two bolts that are inside the head..that go down into the front cover.)
