You ever check ebay? I still say craigslist. Least you can check it out for yourself.

what is this thread for? WTB? suggestions? After a bunch of research, I bought a Canon DC50 a few months ago. Takes great vids, records to DVD-R/RW, can take 5MP stills (though I haven't tried this feature out yet), 16x9 aspect ratio. Cost about $500 through amazon.

I'd buy through Amazon or Newegg and I'd get one with the HDD instead of DVD''s.

I agree go with HDD. Newegg is the shiznit. B & H Photo Video is an awesome store too. They have great starter packages that will come with tripod / bag / cleaning supplies / and just about everything else you need at decent prices.

I used to film skateboarding.
I still have my camera, it still works great.
It was like 450 when I bought it
its a panny 3ccd
Get one of those, learn how to use lighting and and manual controls.
any you'll have professional video quality at an affordable price.
also, go to the classified section at skateperception.com to look at what people have for sale. There are always great deals on there.
feel free to pm me if you need any help

Try to pick up a 3ccd camera if you can. (3 Chip) You'll have 1000 times better video quality as apposed to regular 1 chip cams. You can find a few in the same price range as regular old 1 chip cams too.
