can you replace a head gasket and put new ARP head stubs? when the motor is in the chassis? my friend told me that i have to pull the motor out because the NEW ARP head stubs are longer and when i put the head back on, the firewall will be in the way......is that true?

usually.. thats for pulling the head tho when they're already in... u can prolly stick the studs down through as if u were just putting arp's in without doing the gasket - i never used em on a sr - i just have new stock bolts.

Its definately possible to do head gasket and studs with the engine in the chassis. Just be warned it is a pain in the ass. Try to find someone who has done it before to give you a second hand. The easiest way is to remove the radiator and get your whole body in the engine bay and pull the head off. And then when you pull it off have someone outside the bay you can hand the head off to.
So where in MI are you? Im in big rapids, MI.
