View Full Version : Can't decide on S15 T28 or T3/T04E (pros/cons listed)

Let me first say that I already have a 52 trim T3/T04E .68 - it's rebuilt and hasn't been used since the rebuilding. I only want 250whp.

S15 T28
pros: can use SR dump pipe, SR SMIC setup to get going, faster spool (?), built in wastegate
cons: coolant lines needed, would have to purchase ($800), needs intake inlet + compressor inlet hoses ($100), manifold + dump pipe quality can potentially be questionable

T3/T04E
pros: already have, more potential, no intake/compressor inlets needed, JGS kit comes with everything needed + quality
cons: I'd have to get a JGS kit + needed wastegate ($900+), would need to get FMIC setup ($300 + cutting + new battery and/or customizing)

I'd be running whatever PSI would be safe for about 250whp (PSI would depend on the turbo).

I don't have a garage, or really any friends to help (hence the JGS kit being needed for the T3). With all that being said, opinions?

EDIT: I forgot to mention this is for a KA-T setup.

if your going with the t3 which depends what your looking for power do some research there are good kits out there for decent prices and as far as the battery goes braile auto one of the best out there race proven run it in my 95 sr powered 240sx s14 a good company for a turbo kit would be snyapsae turbo http://www.synapseturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=&Product_Code=syn-syn-man-02&Category_Code=features great welds and design is perfect no need to change mainfold when upgrading the turbo i got one on order and i'm so stoke bout it my boy who is actually on there the yellow civic hatch is runnig 9's with one of there set ups this set up is also good for drifting.

Don't forget with the S15 you would still need to purchase oil return tube and hose. It's like $90 for both I think.

Also if you have a S13 SR with stock hotpipe then you would need to
A.) cut and weld to a different angle to bolt onto turbo the compressor outlet pipe.
B.) Buy Kazama or Kazama knockoff compressor inlet and outlet pipe adapter whick is just bolt up and easy.

Right, but he would still need to purchase all of the rest of the stuff that was listed also.

Also if he buys a S14 turbo which would cost him around $350-$400 shipped. He might as well spend another $400 just to get a brand new S15 turbo then.
Better to buy a new turbo than a used one.

if its for a ka keep the t3

you have the air to spin it with a larger displacement.

t3 on a ka is will hardly have any lagg at all.
my buddy ran the jgs full kit with a t3/t4

and it was BITCHING.

Did he have any problems with the JGS kit? (that's what I'm going with, minus the turbo, with the wastegate)

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll stick with the T3!

no probs kit was good but he had a earlier version of there jgs wastegate and it just broke.

outta no where the valve itself cracked.

sent it back and they sent another newer one.

works great to this day.

jgs is good stuff.
