i bought the GReddy turbo kit back in the day, so i have the emanage blue and 370cc injectors. the emanage blue can handle 50% larger than factory injectors. my engine is built and i want around 350hp so obviously i need larger injectors.
i wanted 550cc, but the emanage can only handle 420cc
(280cc X 50% = 140) (280+140 = 420)
the only injectors i found close to that size are 440cc.
i read on a website that HP = cc per minute / 5.
(440/5 = 88) (88 X 4 = 352hp)
this is pushing everything to the max which makes me nervous.
is that extra 20cc going to make it near impossible to tune or not be that big of a deal?
is this going to be safe?
i dont want to rip out my emanage because i have the profec e01 controlling everthing. dont bash my setup. i bought this a long time ago and i didnt know i would come this far. if i could i would redo everything but i dont have time, money, nor the balls to start all over.

why not just get your ecu tuned for the right size injectors??????

Upgrading to the EMU ultimate is supposed to be easy. and that 20cc's isnt going to be make or break.

the emanage ultimate is what ive been looking at. the only drawback to that is i would no longer be able to tune with my e01. i would prefer to stick with my current setup.

"tune" with your e01???
Its a boost controller. Set it and leave it.
Buy a lap top.
Move onto the 21st century.
EMU kicks ass all over E-Blue.
And real EMS's slaughter Emanage's like Napoleon.

John is right.
making excusing for sub-par ems is like blowing off your foot and coderizing to save money on possible foot infection in the future.
Go with the ultimate, tune the eo-1 seperate or just sell both and get a PFC off ebay and come to a dyno (like mine) that has data logit, tune and be done with it (concentrate on driving from there).
or buy the data logit yourself.
And if you are trying to win races you even invest in something universal and much smarter long term investment for a racer who will need an EMS like a Haltech. (Motec is good but I doubt anyone is in that price range on here).

Sell both the E-01 and the Emanage
Then use that money and goto
www.jimwolftechnology.com
www.rs-enthalpy.com
Tell them your injectors, and MAF. They'll send you back your ECU, you can plug it in, and go do burnouts like your car ws born to do them. You'll be happy, the car will run nice, and you'll be done. Then go find a Profec Type S and your boost controller issue will be solved too.
(Steve's Method is the best, obviously, but for a simple setup like his, the ECU is probably the 'smarter' option haha)

ok. so i realize i messed up this setup. as stated before, i didnt think i would get this far with it. i will know better next time. however, im not changing it on this car. i just need to know if was i said in the o.p. is going to work.
ill have to run 440cc injectors
emanage can handle up to 420cc (50% over the stock 280cc)
i want 350hp to the wheels.
is that obtainable?

You will be pushing those injectors at 350whp. The 20cc difference won't affect much as far as the car running goes, should be fine. Personally I wouldn't like to push my injectors to ~100% duty at WOT, and they probably won't appreciate it either.

Obtainable = Anything is
Reliable and smart = Nope.

the calculations from the website assumed that i was running an average fuel pressure of ~43psi and at 90% duty cycle.
of course ill have it dyno'd after i get everything installed. im sure they will be able to tell what a safe hp level is. i would rather not reach my goal than to blow this engine.
i still need a wideband. im new to the tuning world. i just plugged up my emanage and went with it. im already overboosting due to my downpipe and greddys small actuator.
thanks for all the input

I love having people tune my car without having them ever get withing 300 miles of my car.
Assuming you have an SR just save your pennies for a Power FC. If you don't have an SR then save your pennies for a decent stand alone....
You can do plenty of great things on a stock motor...

dude if you are so worried about don't do it. If you are not concerned about blowing your motor and pissing money away do it and post a vid when it goes boom!

i actually stepped it up to a six inch tv this year. still have the atari tho.
i dont think it will blow. ill keep an eye on the a/f
if i cant get 350hp then so be it.

Ive seen 550s close to max out at 300 whp on a PF , 440s on emanage to go over 300 whp will be interesting.

i read on a website that HP = cc per minute / 5.
(440/5 = 88) (88 X 4 = 352hp)
That's WAY OFF...like, 75-80HP off.
ill have to run 440cc injectors
emanage can handle up to 420cc (50% over the stock 280cc)
i want 350hp to the wheels.
is that obtainable?
NO.
440cc is 42lb/hr.
To determine max HP that injectors can support, use this:
[injector size] times [number of injectors] times [max duty cycle]
[42lbs/hr] times [four] times [90% is acceptable]
42 x 4 x .90
...then divide that answer by BSFC of .55.
[42 x 4 x .90] / .55 = ~275
That's 275rwhp as a SAFE MAX.
SO...ditch the eManage, buy bigger injectors and MAF...and get a proper tuned ECU.

even though i said i wasnt going to change anything, it looks like a have no other choice.
so for 350hp, 550cc injectors arent big enough? i thought i saw somewhere in the ka24det faq that they were.
what size is recommended?
it seems as if the easiest thing for me is to get the emanage ultimate. all i would have to do is buy a supplement harness.

740s are always a safe bet. The only thing is you gotta figure out what to do for tuning. Steve is pretty much on the dot with a standalone...
orion::S14
01-17-2008, 01:45 PM
550cc / 10.5 = 52.4lbs/hr
[ 52.4 x 4 x .90 ] / .55 = 343rwhp as the 'safe max'.
You can squeeze 375rwhp out of 550's, with them running at 100% duty cycle...which is really no big deal for side feeds (they stay cooler at 100%, b/c they are surrounded by fuel).
...so for your 350rwhp...they will be fine.
I'm at 338rwhp with 50lb/ers (525cc)...no issues in +4 years.

I love having people tune my car without having them ever get withing 300 miles of my car.
Trust a shop that has specialized in Nissans and SR's forever, or some bo bo down the street who tunes EMS's (this side of Evans Tuning, he's the real deal)?
PS: No one with standalone has my power level, nor curve, with a 2871r (heck, my car outpowers most 3071r cars on most forums too, at similar boost)
PS: I also have Water Injection (Aquamist) being controlled by my ecu via selectable Map
PS: I also have launch control, being controlled by ECU
Not to shabby for a ECU IMO. Not to mention the COUNTLESS people I know from both the FWD SR and KA world who have nothing but great things to say for their JWT products.
no it's not, get an ems already and fly me out lol
Haha, only if you promise to wear some big boy stunna shades and a fluffy red cloak
550cc / 10.5 = 52.4lbs/hr
[ 52.4 x 4 x .90 ] / .55 = 343rwhp as the 'safe max'.
I like that method too. I was always a fan of whp X 1.13 (13 percent loss from crank) = Crank Power / 2 then /4 (cylinders) = CC x10.5 for LBS
343x1.13=387.59 /2 = 193.795 /4 = 48.44875 x10.5 = 509cc (rounded). That BSFC stuff to me can be very off (but then again, i'm a business major and not a science guru, so I may be very wrong too)
I'm at 338rwhp with 50lb/ers (525cc)...no issues in +4 years.
Great hearing nice setups lasting forever.
My good friend's Sentra makes the same power, using the normal 28RS (well once was a gtir t28 with s14 housing up until 3 years ago) JWT 50lb/Cobra MAF setup...35,000 miles so far, no engine issues ever, and TONS (5-6 a year, for 6 years now) of HPDE abuse....
