Someone managed to snap pics of an uncamoed production model undergoing winter testing.
Here's some of the pics:

I like it.
I'll take a Panther Pink T/A with a 6-speed, thank you.
It's good to see Chrysler building a product that is actually getting people excited for a change.

While I personally don't like the car, I do agree with you. Unfortunately this is about their only silver lining right now.

It still just looks too fat :( The old Challengers weren't small or light by any means, but the lines and stance made it look so aggressive. I think when they modernized it, they rounded it out too way much and so it doesn't have the same sort of aggressive look.

It looks too tall, too rounded out, and too fat even though the old one is probably wider. It's not bad looking, but to me, it doesn't capture the essence of the classic.

will the market be ready for "old look" new cars?

Looks better then teh charger, they made that thing look mad lol.. its like unnecessarily huge design

looks like the new camaro from the side.

but all in all, not too shabby.

now drop it, make it satin black, and make it an old trans am competition car.

Matej
01-16-2008, 03:27 PM
Body is too tall, makes it look totally boring, and looks too much like the Mustang and Camaro. All these new old cars look the same.
Just because the new Mustang was popular since it was the first one, it started this unnecessary epidemic of quickly putting out as many half-done remakes as possible while this trend is popular, just to make quick money.
All these remakes could've been great if someone put more time and effort into them, but that obviously didn't happen and the companies are hoping the main sell point will be the name.
I know these new versions will not be remembered like the predecessors are, I can't really even think of them as follow-ups to their line.

SimpleS14
01-16-2008, 06:30 PM
The car is too retro in design and for some reason looks bland in those pics. I guess it will have some potential once in the hands for some aftermarket companies.

I would have to say from these pics it does look good and yes I agree its how the Camaro should have looked.
Now for the people whining about size. There is real problem now with new cars on size. Crash safety standards require a high belt line which is why most new cars and remakes stand so much taller.

Its very expensive for automobile company to make a low beltline car and get it past DOT standards. The New Mustangs tall front end had a lot to do with the engine being a tall engine. Though Ford readily blew it on the Thunderbird remake. As I feel Chevy has blown it on the Camaro remake imo.

Nostalgia is selling these days. Much to my dismay. I would tend to agree with sediments of things are getting very unoriginal all over the place. I.E. remade cars, remade TV shows, remade Ads, remade Movies, of course they have been remaking Movies for over 50 years
Fuck, Gwen Stefanie and Pink both use a female producer who is the biggest songwriting recycle/ripoff artist since the dawn of Music. Welcome to recycled hits. BAhhhhhhhhhhh

enough ranting the car looks good they will sell it, life goes on.

there have been like, two special editions.. bullitt and mach 1.
i'd like to see some sort of Vanishing Point edition challenger, but same concept as the bullitt... just lots of old school.

I really don't see a General Lee paint scheme coming.
The Duke boys drove a Charger.

A vanishing point Kowalski edition would be sick, but I'm holding out for a High-Impact color Challenger T/A.

California special,
Parnell Jones,
GT500
GT500KR
Shelby GT (non GT500)

And WTF is up with using the same 6.1L V8 in ALL the SRT8 cars?

why would they use different engines? that would be way to costly. using the same engine keeps production cost down. why make 4 different engine when you can make one. same reason the 05 GTO, CTS-V and vette all used the same motor

It's going to sell well the first 2-3 years and then see drastically falling sales. At that point it will be so close the the CAFE regs kicking in Chrysler will nix the car altogether.

i aggree.. i mean it looks good and all.. but it just looks like they took a few step back in car design esp in the designs that cars are going into now a days. This car looks like it could have been a mid 90s model year along side the older mustangs, plymouth prowler, camaro etc

But then again, with the craze of these retro cars coming out.. they COULD influence the market and Create the demand on them..

But then again, with the craze of these retro cars coming out.. they COULD influence the market and Create the demand on them..

Let me tell you about retro designs. They are good for a spike in sales, but not for long term. With the exception of the Mini and the Mustang (which are in classes almost all their own), ALL retro cars see huge sales initially and then their sales plummet. It's also VERY difficult to redesign these vehicles which leads to stale designs on the market for 5+ years (Beetle and PT) and even worse sales.

I don't know how manufacturers are still seeing this as a good business model to be perfectly honest.

Yeah, the PT's been the same hideously ugly, rebodied Neon for nigh upon TEN years now.

A whopping 1000 lbs lighter than the production model. Saw a production SRT8 for the first time at a local car show a couple weeks ago. Looks very good in person, but the fake CF hood decal is pretty lame.

I saw a orange one driving in my town the other day with some old lady driving it. Looked pretty good in person, but man is that thing a heavy pig. Jeez

Someone managed to snap pics of an uncamoed production model undergoing winter testing.
Here's some of the pics:

I'll take a Panther Pink T/A with a 6-speed, thank you.
It's good to see Chrysler building a product that is actually getting people excited for a change.

I work at a dodge dealership and I've driven one, its pretty nice. Although when it showed up it had a few broken interior peices.
