Last November, team Evil Bunny Racing picked up an S13 Coupe to build a drift / autoX / track car. We named her Akurei. Shortly after starting work on the car, we decided to create a video blog and track the build progress of the car. Work has just started, so progress is light.

current status (01/14/2008):

Stock KA
Fresh Manual Swap w/ Spec Stage 2 Clutch
Stance GR+ Coilovers
Sparco Deep Dish Wheel
16x8 +20 Rims

Pictures when we bought the car:

The first video was a last minute decision, and we forgot to bring a camera. It was done with a camera phone, and the quality is terrible.

Video Blog 1 (excuse the quality of this one):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9188316205568812350&hl=en
In this video we strip down the interior of the car.

Video Blog 2:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7603985672520284229&hl=en
In this video we chip out the sound deadening material from the car.

Video Blog 3:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=308498728236386976&hl=en
In this video we sand the chassis down in preparation for the next step in the process.

I will keep this page updated as the car progresses.

constructive comments appreciated :D

It'll be at least 1.5 - 2 years before the car is anything you could think about calling fast. Probably going to go with an S14 SR w/ some upgrades. Decisions are still being made. Looks, I personally don't care what it looks like - but we will look into that after suspension / cage / motor is done. Suspension - it has stance coilovers - it will get adjustable arms, bushings, etc soon-ish.

1.5-2 years? That will test your patience. Good luck.

Its not like the car won't be driven during that time. It will be on track duty starting this spring. :2f2f:

What is "Akurei"?...

Looks like it only needs some tires and it can hit the track already...

you should take pics than bad quality videos..
you could probably record your steps alot better.
lookin good though!
lots of manual labor too!!
just bust out the drill with wirebrush and it would be muchhh faster to strip through tar and paint.

absolutely - but unlike cali, jersey doesn't have events all year round :bash:

thanks - sound deadening chips out better in the cold. You can see the difference from 35* to 19* in video 2.

I will be putting up higher quality versions of the video later. Google compresses them and makes them look like shit. Pics will be taken once there is something worth taking pictures of :)
