Hey guys, I don't have much for a post count but I surf this forum very often since my join date. Anyways, I was wondering if anybody was into photo enhancement/editing in Photoshop.

I got into PS about 1.5years ago, doing car transformations. A few links to my personal favorites are below. I also netted a portrait editing contract near the end of 2007.

S13 Drifting: (Collaboration, I did the leading car, "SwanginAccord" was my old username on a PS board)

240SX Hatch:

Hopefully I don't get flamed, :coolugh: but if anyone shares the same interest, great! :bigok:

I'll give you the credit for taking the time to work the images to that level. Some of your ideas I don't like at all, though. Then again, I don't like show cars with useless vents everywhere and such.

Your talent just needs better direction.

I agree with what you're saying, my earlier work is a lot more "extreme" and the thing with modding cars in PS is you need to have some notable differences with proper execution to show what you're capable of. Of course, finding your own tastes is inevitable, which I think is shown in the S13 coupe, Z33, and 240Z.

Thanks for looking.

GAY!

I'm just kidding, man. Some amazing PS skills. I actually checked out your website a while ago. Your LS600 was my desktop background for a few days. I really like the Datsun. <Right click> <"Set as desktop background">

there's a couple things i didn't really like... such as the huge vents near the door on the 240sx hatch... but still... your photoshops are really good. x1234278395 better than what i could ever do. props.

Haha, yeah I get that a lot actually. I tried to play with overfenders or making it look like a pull but I didn't have that kind of skill back then.

Heh, thanks. Yeah, the LS wasn't really a big project and I tend not to show it off due to how little I did ;) I do like it though.

Thanks guys! :rawk:

Theres a lot wrong with that vented s13 hatch at the end, shadows are way too harsh and the wrong color, wheel shadow wouldn't look like that, sideskirts are a mottled mess.

not putting you down, b/c they're not bad, but its going to take a while to get it believable. those look like photoshops, not photographs.

Posi for actually taking the time to teach your self PS, though. Everyone i know gives up when they see what the learning curve is.

Yea, the goal is for people to see the picture and think it's a photograph.

Thanks, yeah, everyone asks me if I've taken a class and I tell them to go fuck themselves. PS classes at my high school are a joke.

I have a terrible sense of drawing perspective, and reflections, and all that shit. I can barely put wheels on straight.

That's why I stick to paintjobs mostly, pretty much just so I can pick colours for my own cars, or other peoples'.

It's funny that I find this thread minutes after I upload this though:

Some minor bodywork to make the car all one colour and bondo free... the rest was just playing with paint layers to get the basecoat and pearl right.

This is my 'test palette' for the Protege's new paint.

Have some older stuff but can't be arsed to find it from here.

But yeah, that's pretty much all I do.

Perspective and reflections both take practice, and a lot of it. If you look at my 240Z restoration, I do have perspective issues at the rear of the car.

Wheels are simply a c/p matter, find ones at the right angle.

The palette for the Protege looks pretty good I like it.

One thing with paint is the reflections are often colored as well, making it look unrealistic. I PS'd my Accord [CA6] a long while back, and as you can see, the paint looks alright until you see how the reflections have been tinted blue. Which is why I don't do color changes unless it's a studio shot.

ps; hopefully nobody looks up my license plate and comes and robs me or something. :ugh:

Thanks for the comments again guys! :2f2f:

I'm not super picky about reflection colours when I'm doing mine because they're just colour references. There should be a really obvious yellow parking line on the Protege that I didn't bother saving because it just confused the lines of the car and put yellow where I didn't want it.

The 240SX's body was actually completely desaturated, then the black fender and bumper were leveled to match the red body and hood, then I erased some bondo. So when I did the colour, I just did the usual on the body layer, then did a pearl colour layer, then a pearl luminosity layer, then a blue colour layer to match the original's white balance because it was a cloudy day. Pretty much nailed it on the hood, but the roof sucks.

The 240SX looks like it was done pretty well, I haven't had to mess with levels very often. Good job!

I just mess around with it. I am by no means a Pro, or even "Good" at it in my eyes.
