-16 or -20 ?

I was thinking -20, but the bay has folks selling -16 off their old circle track race cars.

measure a stock rad hose diameter
and get an AN closest to that
not too hard! and imo the easiest way.

aah dousan, I was waiting for you to chime in!

Well, -20 then because the that AN to NPT bulkhead fitting...the NPT end is the same OD as the outlets on the radiator.

They are HUGE though, have you ever held a -20 AN?

So on a certain online auction site, there are v8 circle track and cup car guys that are selling -16 hose and fittings saying used as radiator hose.

Im just worried the -16 will impede flow to and from radiator.

-20 would be better as it's closer to the diameter of the stock hoses. Stock hoses are 36mm right, or 1.41 inches so right between 1 3/8" a 1 7/16". And -20 is 1 3/8", -16 is 1".

What are you talking about NPT bulkhead fittings for? Where are you planning on using them.

I would think the easiest way would be to get weld -on male fittings and then hoses with female ends on them.

But you probably could get away with -16. I'm not sure, but I don't think the stock sized hoses are anywhere near flow capacity, so a smaller hose might not hurt performance at all. It could build more pressure in the block, but it also depends on how much the rad flows. If you can get a good deal on a rad with -16 fittings and get hoses off ebay and it doesn't work. You could always hack off the -16 fitting and throw on a -20, grab some other hoses off ebay for cheap and do it that way.

I agree with wiisass. -20 would work better since it is closer to the stock diameter. just get a pwr with -20's on them already and buy the weld-ons for the water necks. if you have the money to even think about spending it on AN radiator hoses, you might as well spring for the -20's and not have to worry about having to redo them if the -16's don't work out.
