We finally got the Mugen Civic. What a waste. $30,000! You get, wheels, paint, and NO HP gains. Waste of money.

^^^ Don't forget. Brembo BBK.
It's still a civic like Dook said.
I can't downgrade.

Civics are perfectly fine cars. For a commuter car. For me at least.

i'd never buy it, but from the looks from that magazine... it's not looking half bad aesthetically

exactly.. I don't have a problem with civic as that... but after they are swapped and boosted, they are still a civic and feel like a cheap commuter car... I should know, i've built several.

If memory serves me right, the new 4door civic R is 4 seconds quicker around suzuka than the ITR, and at tsukuba it gets to within a second of an NSX type S or something. Seems to be a big deal in j land

The RR is seriously overpriced, it's something in the range of 40K+ :hahano::eek2:
we have the Mugen four door at our dealership right now (of course no one has bought it) sticker is 30k with a markup of something like another 5k

you guys want to know what's even more funny about the New civics???
current generation civics are solid rear axel IIRC. The prior generation civics are wishbone i believe?? So, the older civic > newer civic meaning older civic is faster than the newer one...It was in an episode of top gear, they were wondering wtf was Honda doing lol.

My guess is was the builder, not what was built..
My friend has an 04 si with a boosted k24/k20a2 swap.. youre a liar if you ride in it and say it feels "cheap"

i know how to build a car... I guess I shouldn't generalized, i haven't ridden in a civic newer than 2001... the EG/EK chassis is what i was refering to.

I did enjoy my EK, but my S-body was definitely an upgrade!
This Civic Type-RR does look lovely, but its just too much for a Honda Civic. Plus, half of the fun of driving these highly tuned imports is building them yourself!!

I dont know, I kinda liked the feel of the last Si ive ridden. I was honestly impressed. Buddy of mine had his integra stolen and bought the brand new Si. Shiet handled up par if not better than his integra. Nice lil car to bring up to circuit/mountain roads in norcal. Power was decent, hell I like the feel on the car better than S2Ks, even if it is fwd.

I have to agree with everyone that it is just a civic and costs way too much money. But yet again america gets dicked we get a pretty regular mugen civic Si and they get some crazy mugen type r rr. 3 r's now, wtf is up with that. It's like they're trying to copy the bike CBR RR's.

Yea I saw that top gear ep, our US spec don't have a solid rear axle but the new civic weighs as much as an older accord. Also the fuckin civic is designed to have crumple zones on the top of the hood for when you run a person over, WTF. So if some drunk walks by you parked car and falls on it:bash: , or a single bike rider hitting it will total your car...fuck that shit!

Regardless of the looks, I don't think I could pay 30k+ for a civic.

The front fascia looks really similar to a 2008 STi:

They look like nice cars. I'd drive one proudly if someone gave me one. Actually, I'd probably just sell it and buy something else.

Love that paint! IMO, that shade of red (firecracker rid iirc) is absolutely perfect. I would kill to get that paint code!

Has that price been confirmed? The two civics in the article are actually a bit more respectable than the USDM Mugen Civic, in that there is some noticeable performance increase instead of just adding some botique junk for show.
Otherwise, I must say I'm not really all that impressed by the Civic. I'd like to see more than just souped-up fwd civics. The Si is a good package for 22k ish, but when your pushing beyond that price point it becomes difficult to justify given the obvious competitors. It's still underpowered compared to the 22k Mazdaspeed 3.
I also think its somewhat pointless to throw on all sorts of expensive CF parts, just so that you can lose 15 kg (which I'm guessing is around 35 lbs, on an otherwise 2800 lbs).
