i was thinking of putting 17 inch wheels on my car, 91 s13, and everything is stock. will there need to be changes made to make them fit onto the car? or will extreemly low profile tires need to be used? any suggestions for wheels that are lightweight/ and not "bling bling"?

The 240SX has TONS of space for wheels compared to other sport compacts.  A 17" wheel will fit just fine with plenty of sidewall.  A 215/45-17 tire is probably your best bet in terms of height, availability, and clearance.

For wheel fitment, there are plenty of choices.  Just remember that you want a lower offset than a FWD car.  Many wheels with the right 4x114.3 bolt pattern will have a +40 or higher offset, intended for Accords and Preludes.  The offset you want is +30 or so.  If you can't find a wheel to fit you could make up the difference with a small spacer, but choices do exist.

If you're really interested in wheels for performance and not just style, I would suggest stepping down to 16" only because there's a wider wheel choice for the 4-lug pattern.  In that case, you'd run a 225/50-16.
