im about to get my car tuned, and i have 3 questions that need to be answered before i can do so...

here are my list of mods....
Garrett gt2871r .86
Nismo 740cc
Hks step 2 264 cams
Hks dual rates
apex'i metal HG
vibrant tubular mani
fmic
walboro 255 lph
greddy intake mani
apexi Power FC
HKS EVC ebc
nismo engine mounts
nismo thermostat
z32 maf
z32 fuel filter

my 3 questions are...

how much boost "SHOULD" i run... this is my DD.... but the turbo has such a huge exhaust housing, that it hardly ever spools in regular driving

i was thinking around 20 psi?

since i have the dual rates... i was also thinking about bumoing up the rev limiter to 8k rpms... i hear it can handle more with a good tune.. and im getting mine tuned buy carolinas best

so 8k rpms?

and i have an EXEDY stage 2 clutch.... will it handle all the TQ? i think it should

as much as your motor can safely handle.

8k should be fine.

im running 17 psi right now.... and its totally fine ... im sure the 555cc dont like it too much tho...

so you are running around 20 psi as well?

^^^ Yup, the Father's got it right.

Boost is determined by the setup, you continue to advance boost until you start to creep/see diminishing returns. Same with timing (aside from boost, timing's where all the power comes from). You'll probably end up somewhere around 20psi.

Your redline is determined by where the power is, 8k on that setup will probably be just fine.

And yeah the Exedy stage 2 is a beast - rated for 350ft-lbs, so you should be set :) Enjoy!

yeah i am running about 20pis

on the street i ran 1 bar (15psi)

well it really doesnt matter for on the street... im not an immature driver... and with the size of my exhaust side on the turbo, my engine rarely sees over 3 psi of boost under normal driving conditions...

but if i need to bump it down, all i have to do is press a few buttons

thanks for your help dousan p and gsxrjordan... + rep

Its more about why type of fuel (octane rating) that would determine safer boost levels. I try to stick at 17psi or less for 91 octane.

My redline was set to 8K on a stock motor and a shitty tune... The motor can handle it.

20 psi daily sounds crazy

how often do you go full tilt on the street though? especially w/ that power level

i would say get a dual rate boost controller and have both options...run lower boost for daily just to resist temptation
