I searched for a while, but since I dont really know what I'm looking for, so its hard to figure out if this was posted before.

Car is 96 240SX with KA24DE. Car was running fine, then turned off on the road. Tried to restart it, but wont turn over. When the key is in the "ON" position, there is a weird, very rapid ticking sound coming from this solenoid(?)(see black circle in pic). When I touch it, it vibrates slightly (kinda reminds me of the pumps you use to filter out aquariums) I have no idea what that part is, but it has 3 vacuum lines and a wire connector attached to it. It is located on the intake manifold.

I swapped it out with the one on my 98 240SX (which doesnt make that sound) and motor still wont turn over. I unplugged that solenoid, turn the key to "ON", and then I hear a similar sound from coming behind the motor, in between the firewall (see arrow in picture). I cant see exactly what the source is, but I can touch another vacumm line that "vibrates". I think whatever is in the back of the motor is the main source of the problem, but I cant see or feel it.

Anyone have any ideas what that is? I was thinking something with the OBD, but not quite sure. So now the car is stuck at some parking lot, and I'm not too sure if this is something I can quickly fix, or if I should have it towed over 30miles to my regular repair shop.

Any help will help guys....Thanks!!!

Try tapping your starter with a fairly blunt object. Then try push starting it.

Could be something as simple as your clutch interlock relay.

Some people replace it, others just jump it with a paperclip.

try this: check the ecu- by check i mean open it and look for burnt components, relays or engine/chasis grounds
