Microsoft giving away free games to 360 owners due to its lack of performance by xbox live throughout the holiday season.

I don't own an Xbox, but that's the least they could do. Do you have to pay monthly for Xbox live?

$50 a year

Ah.. well then they should compensate their subscribers with a free game or the like.

This is a marketing scam. Why? half of xbox live players dont own the premium device to download content. To download a game your gonna need the hard drive. The hard drive itself is what about 100.00? I would rather have a yr subscription to xbox live for a year.

....probably more like a third at most. core system is for chumps. if you don't have a hard drive, you're missing out... i download demos all the time for funsies. the Burnout Paradise demo is SICK.

In the official letter on the xbox.com website, they say its a full ARCADE game, not a full regular game. It's still pretty cool they'd do that, they normally sell for 5 to 10$

It is a free game from the arcade, though. The majority of which are incredibly boring. What they shopuld do is take the 10 days from when xbox live was down (and it still struggles) and add them to our accounts.

That's what it said in the article i posted originally.
I gotta say though, a free arcade game is more than i expected from Microsoft, so I guess I'm not complaining :jerkit:

Of course you all know that PS3 reigns over Microsoft...Free online and all :D

Also, you can't forget about MGS4! Possibly the biggest game to ever come out on any console; Halo 3 killer is an understatement.

It's kind of hard to compare MGS4 and H3 seeing and they are two completely different games. It's great that Sony is offering their online service for free, but I still like all of the features that Xbox Live has to offer, so its a $50 well spent in my opinion.

Yes, the online service for 360 is exceptional, but to me, it doesn't justify the $50! Think of all the posibilities that $50 can be used for. Especially since gas is on the rise...Plus, the average life span of a console is about 5 years so that's $250!

I am disappointed though because of Sony's lack of server support for online games...

Im a pro Sony guy from the get-go, but recently bought a 360 to play halo3 and cod4. Sad but im starting to like Xbox-live just cuz theres always people on it. PS3 still dont have diddlysquat worth playing online to me. People swear on Warhawk but those kind of games never appealed to me. I know COD4 came out on the PS3 too but i was turned off by the potential lack of online users so i chose to get the 360 version.

PS: Yes I just renew my xbox live for the whole year last week, i think its worth it.

Halo 3 is entertaining, and I would get a 360 to play it online but MGS4 and Killzone 2 is more appealing.

Currently on the PS3, COD4 online is having some issues...It seems Infinity Ward's servers can't handle all the traffic they've been recieving so the games lag and online sometimes "crashes". It's terrible; times like these I wish I owned a 360, but I'll get over it.

I'm no fanboy for Sony, it's just that the PS3 came with all these features Microsoft didn't have at the time and still doesn't have. Plus, I love Metal Gear Solid...

And thanks for the negative rep, asshole.

Thats basically how i figure out which system to buy a game on if its offered in both the PS3 and 360. If I can play it online, ill prolly buy it for the 360. PS3 will be games that I will only play alone like Gran Theft Auto, I was planning on buying Assassins Creed for the PS3 but im in the other side of the pond and I buy what I can get my hands on, just so happens we only got 360 version available here so went with that.

As far as MGS4 being a Halo3 killer, I doubt itll happen. MGS wont have the appeal as much as Halo since its not an online game. I see it this way, if I play Halo online, I need my own copy of the game. People I know will get their own copies too in order to play it. MGS, since im playing it by myself, once Im done with it, Ill be more likely to sell it used or loan it to a buddy whos a cheap ass to buy a copy.

PS: I didnt neg rep you, if i did, id leave a memo with my name on it...which actually now I did. :fawkd:

Haha...Sorry, I wasn't talking to you during the latter portion of my post. That was to some gay premie who's too pussy to post their name.

Anyways, most of my friends own 360's and seem to enjoy them profusely. It sometimes makes me want to purchase one so I can own them in Halo 3, but dishing out $400 for another console seems absurd. Both consoles have great exclusive titles, but I will always be envious of the 360's games! Mass Effect looks terrific, and I still haven't "finish the fight" with Halo 3 yet.

It's great how Microsoft is giving out free games even if they're arcade games. Some of those homebrew games that Microsoft adopts are really fun, I would love to try some of them out.

Too bad some of the fanboys are neg repping me. You guys are so narrow-minded and unable to understand opinions other than your own.

haha, Don't look at me, but yeah, I'm not gonna hate on anyone because they have a different preference of games than I do. I will admit the majority of arcade games offered are less than appealing, but also remember, Xbox Live arcade does have some classics like MK. Although I won't be surprised if Microsoft say's "HERE! pick your free arcade title out of the 'no one's buying this shit' BIN!"

Haha, it was someone who didn't contribute to the thread...I think.

But there are some sidescrollers on Live Arcade that are fun...right? You have to at least appreciate some of the work people put into making those games. They spend days/weeks making these games hoping for Microsoft to pick them up and add them to the Arcade.

I remember when Microsoft was toting around the Arcade feature like it was going to change the face of the planet...lol...
