does anyone have any tips or tricks for putting a tranny back in the s14 from the floor . my friend is out of town and i cant use his rack. ive tried to loosen the engine mounts a bit and let the engine lean back a lil to try to help on the angle of the tranny going in.it keeps hitting the firewall before i can push it in. ive even beat on the the wall where its rubbing. driver side. i dont want to , but im starting to think i might have to pul the motor to put it back in . it would be easier just more time consuming. any ideas?please , this make the second day trying to get it back in to no avail

tilt the engine as said. Remove the precat (exhaust behind header) to get more room to wiggle it in. I don't like to do this but lots of people put the tranny in with the starter hump facing down, then rotate the tranny in place once it's already slid into the crank.

I don't rotate the tranny, I just jam it right into the crank. DONT LET THE TRANNY HANG BY ITSELF.

I've done this 4 times. First time it took 8 hours, last time it took about 40 minutes. It's a PITA and takes luck. Be careful and don't drop the tranny on yourself.

thanks man , im gonna try loosening the engine mounts to see if i can get some more tilt out of it. last night i got the shaft started in the crank , nowhere close to getting the splines in , but once it got that far its was rubbing on the bottom of the firewall.

Unbolt the exhaust. All the room you need.

Yeah the exhaust is whats holding the engine in that position not the mounts. I hated putting mine back on but it didn't take too long
