I have a 1996 S14 and I am about to do a full z32 brake conversion. 4 pot fronts 3 pots rear. from my reaserch here everyone says to upgrade teh Master cylinder to maintain a firm pedal feel. and teh 15/16 was a good compromise as it not as stiff as the z32's 17/16

So I did a search on Autozone. and it would seem like both MT and AT s14's already come with 15/16

Bendix Master Cylinder (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=BEN&MfrPartNumber=13080&PartType=230&PTSet=A) New; 15/16"; MT; w/o ABS

Bendix Master Cylinder (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=BEN&MfrPartNumber=13079&PartType=230&PTSet=A) New; 15/16"; AT; w/o ABS

I wont be near my car for a few days, but do s14's already have 15/16 BMC's?

Yes they have 15/16" and you can run the 300zx setup like that. If you are capable of putting on a 300ZX 1&1/16th MC then I would suggest you do so. It is a pain but there are plenty of write ups.

I have an AUTO and its 15/16"

The auto brake booster is bigger.

I'd try to find an auto brake booster and master cylinder if you dont wanna go for the 17/16"

Also since you have an s14, you dont really need to upgrade the MC. I planned to on my car, but after installing the brakes and testing them out, the pedal didnt feel sloppy, so I didnt bother installing the MC. Maybe I will at some point, but the pedal feels fine.

What you have will work. But, the Z32 17/16 BMC will be better setup for the brake setup you have. You just have to swap a a fitting over to the new master cylinder. You ruin the stock master cylinder, but if the parts store guys are dumb enough, they still take it for a core. Search, I know there are a large number of posts containing info on doing the swap.

I love threads with misleading info. Sadly we've discussed this a million times but no one can read apparently.

S13 master cylinder is 7/8" bore.
S14 manual master cylinder is 7/8" bore.
S14 auto and ABS master cylinders are 15/16" bore.

S13 brake boosters are all single chamber, 230mm.
S14 manual brake boosters are single chamber, 230mm.
S14 auto and ABS brake boosters are dual chamber, 180mm/205mm.

Z32 master cylinders are all ABS, and vary between 15/16", 1", and 1 1/16".

So if you use an S14 auto master cylinder on a manual car, you gain the same benefit as a 15/16" Z32 master cylinder but without the need to bend lines or rewire the fluid level sensor. That setup does fine with Z32 brakes at all four corners while keeping clearance for top mount turbos.

S13 abs brake booster is bigger then the none abs. Unless my S13 with ABS has the wrong brake booster.

Ok i have a question here. Nothing to do with what BMC is best. But I notice that the Auto BMC on a 95 240sx w/o abs has a triangular three bolt pattern and the Manual BMC w/o abs has the regular two bolt pattern. Would the Auto bmc still mount up or would i also need to change to the Auto Brake booster?

Well i just kinda answered my own question apparently ( work for autozone) Our Auto BMC(95 w/o ABS)n has a triangular base plate to mount to the Brake booster. AutoZone.com | | Master Cylinder (Brake System) | IMP REMAN MAST CYLINDER (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsProduct.jsp?skuDescription=Fenco+Reman+/+Master+Cylinder+(Brake+System)&categoryDisplayName=&fromString=&itemIdentifier=261269_0_0_1277%2C6831&productId=261269&sortType=&parentId=44-0&filterByKeyWord=&isSearchByPartNumber=&navValue=14400007&categoryNValue=&fromWhere=&itemId=7-0&displayName=Master+Cylinder+(Brake+System)&store=3193&searchText=&brandName=Fenco+Reman)

But over at Advance their Auto BMC(95 w/o ABS) has the regular two bolt base plate to mount to the brake booster. Brake Master Cylinder by Cardone - Part 18350170 - Advance Auto Parts (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Brake-Master-Cylinder-Cardone_18350170-P_230_R|GRPBRHYAMS_727894093___)

This is odd. Also the other difference between the two are the brake link spots. The advance auto bmc matches up with the Manual BMC but the autozone Auto BMC does match up with the Manual BMC.

You do realize websites sometimes use generic pictures, right?

ALL Schassis and Zchassis BMCs have the same two bolt flange to the booster. There is no difference there.

Yeah i just realize that at work. Sometimes we do use generic pictures and other times its the real picture. But thanks for clearing that up.

It's not the slop, it's the proportioning valve. The 300zx bmc is proportioned differently to compensate for bigger brakes in the rear. You will need the 300zx bmc.
