I have a stock 1990 240sx and was thinking about the koni yellows and the sportline springs. Can anyone give me any driving impressions on this set-up,recommendations. I chose this setup because im on a very strict budget.

shock/spring combos where very popular aroudn early 2000 240sx community, should be decent, ive read somewhere that the sportlines are somewhat soft compared to other springs.. Ive heard of koni yellows blowing out, but that could have been from age/extreme lowering, but anything will blow out from that.

How much did you want to lower the car? what type of driving do you do? Just asking becuase later on you may want to consider going for coilovers, and there are a few budget coilover systems out now, which are perfectly fine for daily driving. Going from stock suspension to coilovers is like night and day.

Yeah, if you want to get lower than springs, and not have to worry about blowing struts (unless you drive in potholes all day), the Tein Basic setup is affordable, and from what I hear it rides nice for coilovers. Beware, extreme coilovers will make your kidneys hate life.

Koni Yellows are great dampers, but you'll need modified and/or custom housings for the front. Hit up veilside180sx on here for those.

I'm not exactly sure what is required of the rest of the setup for your limited budget, but sportline springs are pretty weak, and you'll probably want ones with a higher spring rate. Koni yellows can handle about 7-8kg/mm.

I had the same setup on my accord for more than a year and I loved it. The adjustment on the Koni Yellows works great and the sportline is good with the Koni. Well, I took them out already and sold it because I got an S14 now. I hate Honda so much for putting a drum brake on the "Accord". RWD rocks....

I've heard really good things about the agx/rsr race spring setup, stiff and low but not too much of each

Im going this route as well, koni yellows with either a lowering spring or the ground control coilovers. Daily driving ftw!!

Don't get sportlines, they are soft and crappy. Get the Eibach Prostreet or whatever the stiffer springs are called. Or get RSR race springs those are good too.

For shocks, Ive heard Koni's are pretty good. I know KYB AGXs are good too.

For the money, I would just save up a little more and get a decent set of dampening adjustable coilovers.

Don't get sportlines and don't listen to guys that talk like this.

Koni's can be the best suspension you have ever felt in your life, you just have to pair it with a good set of springs and other suspension goodies. Ground Control offers pretty much whatever spring rate you want and you can have Koni match that rate with their valving.
