Heres the deal. I have a blacktop swapped into my hatchback. Ive put probably 5000 miles or so on it since the swap with no problems. I finally got a fmic on there and started running 10-11 psi with the t25. Ive been running this for prolly 2-3 weeks not with no problems. Then yesterday, i started noticing at higher boost, like anything over 7 or 8 the car kept feeling like it was losing power. And now it has gotten worse. The car runs idles fine and runs fine as long as its not boosting very high. but as soon as i hit over 7 it starts to sound like it is misfiring and has no power at all. Im not sure what this is. I dont know if maybe i start leaking boost at the higher psi or what. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. I really think that it is a fuel or spark problem but i dont know where to look.

You should check the clamps on the pipes first then check the turbo.
I had and issue like that before with my SR. My turbo shaft was worned and not soon after I had lots of white smoke coming from the exhaust.
When I drive fast the smoke looks like smoke screen like u see in the movies.:eek3d:

yeah check you clamps and all intercooler piping, my freind went through the same problem, it would drive fine but the moment he steped on it it would nto go anywher, he had a loose clamp and the piping was coming off

Check maf connections, fuel delivery etc, could be a dying fuel pump etc

yeah im thinking it might be the fuel pump. I really need an fuel pressure gauge. I did a boost leak test and im not leaking boost anywhere. Anyone know a good way to check and see if a maf is ok?

see if you can switch it with another maf...how does it run above 3k?

also, did you do the fuel pump when you swapped it?

I used the fuelpump that came with my halfcut from jarco. It had like 31,XXX miles on it. So that might be a good place to start. It runs fine in the higher rpms. It revs just fine, very smooth. Idle is a little bit rough now that ive paid more attention to it. I mean, it idles pretty good, but just misses here and there. No one i know has the same mafs that i got. My blacktop is from a 98 type x and mafs is a 4 wire plug were as all my friends are 3 wire.

Also(i dont know if this is related) but after i let off the accelerator when its at a higher rpm and hit the brake the cars rpms dive way down (to like 200rpm) and some time it dies. I know that the brake booster pulls alot of vacuum, but isnt the engine supposed to compensate for that.

Oh yeah, i also have my bov vented to the atmosphere. Ive read about people having problems with it vented atmosphericly but i havent had any problems until now.

yea you fucked your turbo

ragged old t25s are known for doing that when people strap on a front mount and immediately crank their boost up to some random number

Running a T25 on an X Type blacktop? What has this board come to...... the turbo charger has nothing to do with your issue. There is a leak in your intercooler piping for sure. Notice the problem started when you changed the piping and put the FMIC there.....have someone drive behind you and check the color of your exhaust, if its burning a lot of black smoke its unburnt gas> hence, a rich condition caused by air being pulled through the MAF, being mixed accordingly, yet, the air that was pulled passed the MAF is being lost somewhere in the intercooler piping before it gets to the intake plenum.

I appreciate all the helpful info that people have contributed. I know it doesnt matter what turbo it was, i just thought i would add all the info i could. Like i said earlier, did a boost leak test to 20 psi and didnt find a leak. Also i understand how a boost leak would cause the car to run rich. well from what ive read 10 psi on the t25 is fine. I have a couple of friends that have been running that much for a while.

but anyways i found my problem. It wasnt a boost leak. I tried starting the car and it wouldnt start. Jumped it off and checked the charge running to the battery. my alternator wasnt charging my battery. Went and checked the alternate and the power cable had some of the insulation gone and it was grounding against the frame. and the nut that held the power cable to the alternate was loose and i believe it caused the alternator to arc and melting the insulation. i guess i wasnt getting enough power for a good spark. I got everything cleaned up and now it runs like a champ.

thanks again.

isnt Jarco the factory fuel pump? upgrade that bitch to a walbro 255 if it is, that is the problem of your bogging.. for the mean time try setting the boost back to factory and see if it still bogs.

thanks again fellas. thats pretty crappy about the neg rep. No jarco isnt the fuel pump, jarco incorporated is who i purchased my engine through.

And i did find the problem 180sxlove
