Ok so this just happened with the car like two days ago... The car was running fine again. Then when my friend went to turn on the car the car started but then died after 5 seconds... So we checked all the wired and the battery and everything seemed to check out.... We had put fuel injector cleaner like a month ago if that helps... What exactly happens is, after cranking the car, it turns on for a like 2 seconds and then slowly dies after 5 seconds. It seems like that fuel is not going in the engine.... I tried to turn on the car and give it some gas but when I did, the car seemed to backfire and die faster.... What could the problem be? Thanks in advance...

When my car did that it was a vacuum leak, does it just bog and then die or turn off right away?

check your fuel pump, maybe your pump is bad I would suggest swapping in a Walbro. Also Check your fuel filter and fuel lines. Most likely its your fuel pump, if anything check your spark plugs.

The spark plugs were just replaced and gapped at .30 The car already has a walbro 255 in it. Vacum leak... Gahh this is gonna be fun. LOL I'll go ahead and check the fuel filer and lines. I'll post the results later.... Thanks for the help...

When you turn the key to the on position, not to start, does the fuel pump run for a couple seconds and stop? If it doesn't run at all, or runs and never stops, there is a problem. Check that wiring again, I know it's easy to look over that but don't assume any of it is right. When things sometimes work and sometimes don't it's probably a wiring problem. Make sure all your grounds are proper.

Ok so I got some vids now. I'll describe all of them...

1. The first is how I figured out how to keep the car on. I opened the throttle a little but I learned if I kept the throttle open for long the car would die so I let off and then let on again as you can see in the pic. We even replaced the fuel filter with a new unit for a Z32.

2. The second video is after we put back on the valve cover. We removed it cuz, well we really had nothing better to do and it killed time. LOL Regardless, after putting backt he valve cover the car finally started and idled but it seemed to want to die after the key was turned... Note: when the car was first stared the throttle was not applied the car managed to turn on and idle on its own. Toward the end we rev the engine to 2500rpm and yeah the car seemed to choke.

3. The third video is when we tried to rev the engine past 2500rpm but then let off cuz the engine was stuttering real bad... And when my friend let off what u see in the video is what happened...

I say check for boost leaks, that happened to me too. Also, try starting the car with the MAF disconnected

perhaps your idle air control valve needs cleaning.

there is a procedure here on zilvia.

basically you spray throttle body cleaner into your IACV (the small/medium sized hose near your throttle body).

easy to do and if it's not the problem, doesn't hurt anything.

just for shits and giggles, check your maf wiring and o2 sensor wiring while you're in there.

Also check if you tps is positioned right, when mine wasn't if i revved it it would want to die and they can sometimes slip if the 2 screws are not tight.

ya check tps. when my tps was fucked it would do the same thing. also check MAF wiring. dont forget to check for codes

k we think it is the maf but it never did this before so I don't see why the maf would mess up now...
