I ran outta shielding gas for my mig welder. I've mainly been welding mild steel, but I plan on welding stainless steel in the near future. What percentage of shielding gas should I get? I currently have 75% argon, 25% co2. I was told to run 100% argon for stainless steel. Will it be a lot different welding mild steel with this percentage?

if i remember correctly 100 arg will give you hotter welding temps

I'm plan on welding a ss wastegate flange to a jgs style stainless steel log manifold. I'm running a Millermatic 212 MIG so is hotter welding temps necessary? I could always crank up the voltage to get more heat. Seems like if I ran 100% argon, then I won't be able to weld thinner gauge metal.

thats true but then you can just lower the amperage when welding thinner.

you need 100% argon for welding stainless.... or it wont give a correct bond between metals...
