Ever wonder why your 255 tire looks more bulky on your TE37 than it does on your Work Meister S1?

i think it has to do with the "J" and "JJ" on the wheel info sticker

alex chang posted about it on zilvia or FA back in the daaaaay
edit: j/jj infos in brief by alex

Everyone else: J and JJ denote the design of the outer lip of the wheel. It is a technical spec used in the actual manufacturing process of the wheel, but completely useless when looking to buy wheels from a consumer perspective... so just ignore it. It helps to reduce confusion.

you almost measured to rim lip edge
which is wrong.

Coheed makes me want to buy a corrola and put Run Free on it and a MP3 with 300 tracks of the same song.

Except corrolas are total dicks, no exceptions.

Ohmuhgawd, I read this and went "huh?" and immediately googled Don Henley; I had no clue he was(/is) in the Eagles. I feel like an asshole. :(

I get it.

But I don't understand what's so spectacular about it, because it could have been summed up in the phrase "listed width is not measured from lip to lip".

He could have, but reading comprehension is a whole another ball game lol  :duh:

So according to that link w/ the misinformation on it, I have some 18x10.5 fronts, and some 19x11.5 rears. AWESOME :rl: :hammer:

I posted without actually following the link, but I just got bored at school/work, so I decided to read it....

...I guess the OP was trying to be helpful, but I just can see this causing more confusion for people that don't know jack about wheels

oh by the way, i wondered the same thing when I bought my wheels (they seemed "too big")

then I took the extra 3 seconds to measure width BETWEEN the lips (not outside of them, like in the link) and measure the wheel diameter from where the spokes meet the rim (not outside the lip, like in the link) and realized it was fine...

To the OP:....you should have realized that you were measuring the wheels wrong....what is more likely: A) Name brand companies putting out wrong-sized wheels, or B) You mismeasuring?

....you should have tried measuring from different points until you arrived at the same numbers provided by the manufacturer.
WHEELS ARE NOT MEASURED from their "edges"

...... :bash:

To further constitute the absolute pointlessness in taking the lip size into account.

Diameter: The tire HOPEFULLY should be larger than the wheel ALWAYS, so diameter is moot.

Lip width: Offset is measured from the absolute back of the wheel, on ALL wheels. so you will know a 17x9 +15 will always clear the suspension the same, even if the lip size is different.
