no coolant leaks evident
ive recently bypassed my heater system due to a busted hose so ive just looped it back into itself
40mm twin core alloy radiator with single 12" thermo

soon as aircon goes on within 2mins... bang its going up to overheating... soon as i turn it off after 2mins it cools back down

its also going through coolant too yet i have no leaks and overlow is sitting at minimum

Have you checked all lines carefully? Considering you bypassed your heater setup, its possible you have air in your system as well. That could cause a bump in temp under load. It could also cause coolant boil off.

You may want to check your aircon fan, as well.Usually when your aircon kicks on the secondary aircon fan comes on.
Now in your situation it sounds like its possible your aircon electric fan is not coming on. If thats the case it would explain a rise in temp as aircon puts a load on your engine.

I Also would not bypass your heater system as it is a great back up in situations like this.

...40mm twin core alloy radiator with single 12" thermo...

Thats your problem. A single 12" efan will not pull enough cfm to cool when the AC is on. Install another fan for when the ac kicks in and you'll be ok.

well heres one thing i just checked... i have no fan on my condenser...

ive always taken aircon out of my cars but im leaving it in this one so im a little stumped as to what the fan is required to do?

it turns on at a certain temp to assist in cooling. and in traffic, it turns on, then shuts off after like 25 mph. do a search for electric fan setups (altima fans). thats how i found out about em.

i know how the fan works... its more so - whats its purpose? does the condenser really need to be cooled? its not like its near anything hot...

but i guess the other question is... why does my car overheat when a/c goes on? yes it puts a lil extra load on the engine but surely not enough to make it alter temp that much
