1993 sr20det redtop. roughly 50,xxx

ok now this is either a possible puzzle or real damn simple. but seeing as how i live in chicago and theres snow everywhere along with no garage space, i decided to get some personal opinions to take into consideration before doin work. so heres the story. car was out of commission for a week or so do to clutch master cylinder failure. fixed that got back on the road for about a week. started my car up last night and as i got onto the highway i noticed my oil pressure light was coming on then disappearing. i pulled over right away and checked my oil. right under the full line. just incase i put in half a quart. started her back up and drove away. light didnt go on for another 10 min. or so and would only go on above roughly 4000 rpm. that was last nite. today i started it up let her idle, and 5 min after i started driving same shit happened. now this oil casing is new, but due to torque theres a lovely crack in the front casing but has been there for about 4 months, havent replaced due to lack of money. so please tell me if youre thinking pump failure or electronic failure. please lemme know before i end up throwing a bearing or 2. thanks

1st step would be to get a oil pressure gauge and work from there.

1st step would be to get a oil pressure gauge and be done with it

I fixed your post...To the OP, if your car did indeed have low enough pressure to turn on hte oil light, your engine would not be functioning anymore.

appreciate it, and so i take it that since the car is still running that it is driveable until i can get an oil pressure gauge?

The stock oil pressure light doesn't mean anything. Sometimes low oil won't even trigger it. Sometimes it goes off for no reason. It's completely useless.

You need a good oil pressure gauge. I don't recommend driving it until you do. Otherwise you have no idea what kind of damage has already been done.
