ok im a NOOB and i bet someone will call me it in this thread.i got a few questions that i wanna get out of the way so i can look for things for my drift car build.

1.what kind of suspension does a drift car need? i have heard that a drift car would need a stiff suspension. but im not sure.


2.i know with a welded rear diff. normal driving would be hard but how hard would it actually be?

Coilovers help. First I suggest learning car control before you start trying to drift.

2. Who said it was hard?

I suggest searching... and hitting up some LEGAL organized events.

well along with what suspension you need goes what kinda money do you want to spend on setup....for a noob just get K sport, megan or stance under a g and are a good step into arms and higher end coils...as far as diff
driving isnt hard it just speeds up the learning curve.....

i have herd form ppl around places saying that a stiff set up is good for drift. i tried using the search button and all i got was a white screen and i got mad at my comp. and money really isn't a big thing im gonna do a red top swap in the car also. and its gonna be a year long project so i can piece it all together.

Get a good diff and some budget crap that's too stiff and geared for the cheap ass drifter crowd. Then learn how to drive.

I think you need to do 3 SCCA auto crosses first. with the instructor riding along.

Then you will understand a little more about cars and these EXTREMELY noob questions!

not to be rude. But drifting takes ALOT of skill and understanding. You cant just build a car, then ur drifting. You will crash it, guaranteed, just like so many others.

And why do you need a SR20 if your gonna weld your diff??? run KA for a minute??.

usually the order is to buy coil overs, and weld the diff. try drifting out. Then if you like it, AND have some talent at it, buy a 2way or an SR20. (its like sports or dancing. some people have NO talent at it. you dont wanna build a car, and find out you have 2 left feet!)

What are you gonna do with all that horse power and no seat time anyways?? I place my money on you being the guy that spins out ALL DAY and waste everyones time at the track because you have absolutely no skills behind the wheels.

Go do a couple SCCA auto crosses first. Grand tourismo doesn't count as seat time

1. you dont need anything. Coils and rear links help but you could drift on stock sups.
2. I dont care what anyone says but a welded dif sucks balls dawg, especially for a daily driver. Like.... hard core.
extreme minimum you want is at least some sort of lsd for drift. Done and done to save yourself some money for building a drift car when you dont know how to drift yet.
Coils and other shit make it easy but is not needed. God speed to yah young blood.

thats like the easiest to drive car I can think of.

takes so long to react to anything that you can knee it while smoking a cig and knocking back a MHL.

everything after that is just making your car more responsive/faster.

I run Single cam.
$300 used suspension. (KYB/KAB adjustable with RSR springs)
$20 welded diff.

$320 and drifting. alot cheaper to see if you even like it than SR20 swap and a year build.

And I do pretty good in a SOHC. most guys think Im SR'd. HP helps, but its not that a big a deal while learning.
