View Full Version : Thinking of getting a new car

I’m trying to decide on a new car…

06 G35c

05 or 06 Evo

05 or 06 STI

All are good cars; I’m leaning toward the Infiniti. I was thinking I wanted to get away from 4 cylinders, and I have a soft spot for RWD cars, but AWD turbo works just as well and, I like the sedan appeal.

Go test drive all 3
Get insurance quotes
Research recalls and problems and such
Compare em

Then decide

Well what do you need a new car for? Besides getting away from 4 cylinders? Pleasure? Practicality?

All 3 are nice cars but I'd personally go with a G35. If not that, then an STi, or an Evo if all else fails.

g35 hands down

awd might be considered if you lived in a snow region

Yeah, it depends on what you want it for. I think a evo or sti has easier potential to be fast but i like g35s too. There all nice cars.

WTF? If you but that evo I will neg rep you:keke:
Get the STI and take it easy on it and it/you will be fine.

I have driven all of them, they are all about the same price, and I like them all, but I can’t buy them all. All I'm looking for in a car is, a daily driver that I will love as much as I have loved my s14. I have had an s14 for the past 8 years now, and I want something new(er) that will last me as long and run as well.

Do you have something against the 07 STi's, lol? If you're trying to get a new car, you should be able to get a good deal on 06 EVO or a 07 STi.

I will always be partial to STi's. Performance is on par with the EVO, but the more soft sprung suspension make it a lot more comfy dd. The difference between a regular 300hp n/a motor and the STi's 2.5l turbo really isn't too noticeable imo, as the Subie 2.5l builds power very smoothly.

What you will notice, is that the STi's AWD drive feels very different from a RWD car like the 240sx. I have both a s14 (w/an sr swap) and stock STi. both cars feel entirely different. As mentioned before, go out and make test drives, then decide for yourself.

BTW - you may also want to check the 135 when it comes out next yr.

I was looking in the 20-25000 price range, so nothing against 07-08 anythings. just the price.

Ever thought about the M35x ?

Are they coming out with an M version?

The 135i is considered the "M" (or all out sporty) version of the 1-series.

The original M1 was a completely different car with a different line of heritage...so BMW choose not to use that nameplate.

Hmmm I thought you said you wanted to get a new car. That's not going to be easy. You shouldn't have a prob finding a used STi w/ 10-20k mi for that price. Cheapest I've seen EVOs go for are around 26k at some dealerships maybe after discounts. This around half a yr ago, so dont know if its still avail.

Speaking of used cars at 25k or so, C5 Z06's can be quite reasonable if that's your thing.

I havn't heard anything as of yet. "Personally" I think the 135 is a good deal for what it is, IF you dont get all the fanciful options. You get an "M" version (if there will be one), you pay the "M" price. Stripper models already come with the essentials like sport suspension, xenons, and air-condiotioning. If you have $$$ to waste, spend it on an lsd or something useful.

i'd go with an sti. unless you have money to go turbo on the g.

06 STI that is what you should get. They are very nice cars and fast. My bro has one and it is very nice.

BMW 135i ftw....

300hp Twin Turbo in something the size and roughly around the weight of an e30.....a guy i know has a 335i coupe...bought the Vishnu chip for it and it added something like 80hp and 100 lb/ft. of torque.....if they use the same chip for the 135i, well than that would be fan-fucking-tastic...

this is a recipe for awesomeness...

I say stick with an NA car, especially if buying used which would take you to G35. Buying a used turbo car can be very troublesome and risky

1989 BMW 325is
Curb weight: 2844
New BMW 135
Curb weight: 3332

Uh, what?

3332 isn't terrible considering it's a brand new BMW, but still a fatass compared to anything made 20 years ago.

No, and it's not considerably lighter than the 335 either. I think a lot of BMW enthusiasts were dissapointed more in the actual weight of the vehicle morseo than the cost. Lots of ppl were expecting the 2nd coming of the 2002, which it clearly is not.

The 135 is actually a very heavy car considering the minimal dimensions. The STi weighs about the same despite having AWD, 2 more doors, and much much more cargo room. Performance of the STi will most likely be diff to top.

However, the 135 is still a awesome deal if you want a great 300hp RWD turbo sportscar.

I would get the G

Lol I should have made this a poll. I can’t seem to find any decent reviews on the evo or the sti, but I can find a bunch on the G. It seems the G has its fair share of problems, none that are stopping me from getting one though. I think I like the G. It's slower, but fast enough to keep me happy. As far as looks go, the only one that's close to the G is the bmw but I don't want a bmw. thanks for everyones input.
