Up here in Victorville/Apple Valley, look for "Mexican tire shop" thats what its called. Really. Well they give discounts on used tires for "drifters," pretty cool huh? Just say that they'll show you the good threaded used tires they reserve for "drifters" at 50% off. Which is like 7.50$ a tire mounted and balanced, Sweet!
