When hit the brakes, not just my break lamps come on, my parking lights, the ones mounted on the front of the bumber, my gauge cluster lights, my cd player. Pretty much all the things that light up when you turn on your headlights. I got the car like this from some guy.
Anybody know how to fix this or where the wires can be connected wrong?
Thanks

Scenario: It's november and we are moving into a new house. I'm driving the truck and my mother is driving my car (1995 240SX) and we get to the house, she hits the brakes... Right brake light out. No biggie, I think to myself as I grab the first bulb out of the pile in the middle of my room that fits. This was early afternoon. Rest of the day, I hit the brakes and every damn light on the panel comes on, as do my corner lights. That night, I'm driving home and my brakelights are ON, like I've ridden my pedal all the way home at 80MPH. Now, I'm freaked the hell out... I get up and begine feverishly thinking of what wires or electrical gremlins I may have brought upon myself and my car, only to realize that I was the gremlin. Long story short, check all of your bulbs and make sure you don't have a turn signal bulb in your brakelight or something...

Sounds exactly like the problem I have. Except I haven't checked about the turn signals though. So basically you put in a turn-signal bulb for the break light bulb? I'll go and check all the lights. Thanks a lot man.

That's exactly what I did, and changing to the proper bulb fixed the problem...

it doesnt take a hour to check a bulb !! unless you r in my car that you have to rip out the system in the back to get to the bulbs

My 91 fastback has little covers that you can lift to get to the back. I don't remember about the coupe, though.

Mine's a hatchback, the reason why I haven't checked them is because I'm not feeling good and I have a lot of work to finish. I'd rather just lie down then go check them right now. But thanks for you concern
