Hey guys i tried searching on this but didnt get a straight answer so i guess ill ask. Im posting this for my friend. So my question is, when you wire an sr20 to an s13 is the wiring different if the car was a DOCH or SOHC? He had his SR on his coupe which was SOHC and he recently put it in his fastback which was a DOHC. When it was on the coupe it ran fine but now that its on the fastback it wont start. Thanks for any help :bigok: .

We swapped my redtop SR from my SOHC to my friend's DOHC car. The only thing that we had to change was the dash harness to ECU harness connector. Everything else was plug-and-play.
Obviously there could be a lot of stuff that's missing or was done wrong with the swap, but if you keep everything stock on the SOHC body harness it should plug in on the DOHC body harness except for the dash harness as said above.

I think this actually sheds a little light on an issue that I have been dealing with for a while. On my project car that I am reworking. The body is a S13 hatch sohc and the guy that did the original swap retained the Sohc gauge cluster. I have now switched to the Dohc gauge cluster, but the only thing that seems to work is the fuel gauge and clock. Should I go cut the other ECU dash connector off of my buddies 92 parts car and wire it in???

To OP, it should be plug and play, except for the Dash harness, which isn't even needed for the car to start.

No. The connectors have no bearing on what works in the cluster. Just make sure the wiring is right and it won't matter. SOHC white plug, or DOHC brown plug don't matter.
And if the speedo worked on the old cluster, and not on the new, then you messed up plugging in the cluster, or its bad. Your DOHC cluster should also have working Tach if wired correctly.

I'm not sure on the speedo yet, since I haven't taken the car out yet. I know that the tach is not working on the DOHC cluster though. On start up you get a little flutter from the tach, but it does not read the idle at all. And like I said before, the stock Temp sensor doesn't read on the DOHC or SOHC cluster. I check to make sure that the sensor was plugged in and it was. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Temp sensor plugs in right under the Intake manifold right?? Sort of next to the Throttle body??

Yes, there should be two plugs on the coolant neck. One has two prongs, and one is just a spade connector.
The two pronged one is for the ECU. The single connector is the voltage for the Cluster.
