First one sucked major balls. I hate Paul Anderson, he's only 2nd in worst directors to Uwe Boll.

This one, however, looks like fun.

Blood, guts, and guns.

Read the 1st edition comic book, it's pretty badass from what I recall as well (I read it back in early 90's).

I liked it. Way better then the first one, though I was expecting more predators.

I'm a big AVP fan anyways so I'm bias lol The book trilogy are soo much better. They take places in the Aliens time period so the humans had the Marines with the high-tech weaponry. I wish they would have just copied the books, but still good movie. It did keep up with the background information/storyline (established by the books and such) of Predators, unlike the first one.

this was obviously gore'd up to an R from a PG-13. Fox really needs to stop riding the fucking fence with movies, and choose which rating they want from the get-go, instead of making something that could be edited either way. especially with their core franchises.

in the 50's and earlier, the camera pretty much got set on a tripod, and the actors did their thing. the camera didn't shake or get extreme closeups. a pan or zoom was about as exciting the camerawork ever got. it was boring.
now, the camera can't hold still. it's always moving, and shaking, spinning around, getting up in the action's face. cuts are short, quick, and constant. it is extremely annoying, and often hard to follow. usually, this is because it's masking the lack of choreography. if you can't tell what the actors (or critters, or whatever) are doing, you can't tell that it totally sucks.
i miss the balance between parked camera and tourettes-camera-guy.

if i were to make a gripe three, it'd be that this was a shitty throwaway movie. but i knew that going in. i was entertained, and i'll probably never see it again. high five.

reason why first one sucked was due to fox... they wanted bums on seats so they cut half of the original out and gave it pg13/m15 whatever it was and said - a sequel can be done if we make the money from the first one... which they did (something like 230mil)

so this one they could go all out on which they had... i just saw it... its very good - up there with transformers for sure (my no.1 movie atm)

dont let the first one put you off - forget it was even made!

I was wondering if anyone else caught that. Mrs. Yutan is the founder of the evil corporation (Weyland-Yutan) in all the Aliens movie, the first AVP movie had Mr. Weyland so I was wondering if they were going to show Yutan.

Yeah, the first AvP was a total rip. They did nothing to follow the Predator, Aliens and AvP story-line developed from all the books. The second AvP stuck pretty close,(SPOILER) except for the fact the Predator kills the cop in the woods when the cop did not attack the Predator or present any kind of danger. But it could be because the Predator was at first trying to hide the fact the Predator were there and had messed up (crazy Predator honor system.)

Okay, not really. But I wasn't blow away, that's for damn sure. I'll take it for what it's worth a sci-fi action movie focused on blood and guts and shit blowing up.

HOWEVER, there is one carnal mistake that I just cannot forgive: fucking up things related with the military.

The mom who was apparently coming home from Iraq/Afghanistan was wearing a Desert MARPAT uniform, with DCU name and branch tapes signifying Army affiliation. Her collar was all fucked up and she wore no rank on her headgear.

Then, amazingly enough, she has the ability to both operate a Stryker ICV and a helicopter. Not impossible, but no probably either.

The M4's were able to fire a million rounds on burst without ever needing a mag change or time to cool down.

The movie is set in Gunnison, CO. At one point in the movie they request assistance from the Colorado National Guard located in Colorado Springs. MOTHER FUCKER! Colorado Springs is home to Fort Carson, which contains several Active Duty brigades as well as the 10th Special Forces Group.

Why send in a lone National Guard company to deal with an obviously terrible problem that some NSA flunkie is tracking on some multi-billion dollar computer screen? And then, why would an LT be in command of a company(Again, not impossible, but not probable).

Those mistakes alone make me have no desire to ever see the movie again.

But it was 10x more fun than the first film. I was laughing along with the whole theater.

It would had been awesome if chestbusters would had came out of the newborn babies... So wrong, but so right on many levels.

Anyone notice the blondie's hand gun in the one scene where they split up? The slide was in the back position! HAHA.
