Alright just put my SR in and hooked the tranny and drive shaft up. When I go to push the car it gets caught and I can't move it. When I jack up the rear end and spin one tire the other tire spin the opposite way. This is an s13 DOHC body with stock everything except motor. I am even using KA tranny with SR bellhousing. When rocking the car the drive shaft appears to spin. The other strange thing is that I can turn the motor over without the car moving and the output shaft on the tranny moves with the crank as normal. I think I have a problem in the middle somewhere. Please help me out.

the diff part is because you have the stock open diff

Yes I understand that. If I were stuck in a gear on the tranny I wouldn't be able to turn the engine over right?

you would the car would move too though...if it was a low gear

Well, not exactly. When you start the car the clutch pedal has to be pushed in. When you push the car, the clutch isn't being depressed, and therefore if he were stuck in gear, it wouldn't move.

So is it when you try to push the car in gear? Try jacking up the rear and put it in 1st and check underneath.

I can only get the tranny into 5th and reverse. When im in Neutral on the tranny with the rea tires off the floor and turn the engine over the driveshaft and rear wheels spin.I am also having a hard time getting my clutch to bleed. I pump the pedal and it feels like it gains pressure and actually returns the pedal from the pressed position then after that one return I push the pedal down and it is like it looses all the pressure build...I looked for leaks and i don't see any. Anyone have any ideas?

So you cant get your tranny into gear? Might have air in your system. Clutch slave might be bad. Might wanna also check your tranny fluid just for the hell of it since you're already under there.

Sounds to me like the trans may be stuck in 2 gears at the same time. Does the shifter have it's normal range of motion or can you not get to the shift "gates" for the other gears? If it is stuck then you may have to pull the trans out, you at least have to take the shifter off (the entire housing that bolts to the top of the trans) and maybe you can see the shift rods then. Maybe they got bumped somehow when you were installing the trans or putting the bellhousing on it.

I'd try rebuilding your slave and master cylinder and go from there.

Similiar shit happened to me when my car was finally running again. Transmission wouldn't get out of gear, wouldn't go in gear unless I was going a certain speed... I had to turn the car off then put it back into gear and start it again if I was at a light...

When my master cylinder went bad I had trouble getting in and out of gears. I would start with that, it's fairly cheap compared to other replacements..

Ok if the car is not running you should not have to press the clutch to go into gear. The bottom line is that the trans is most likely locked up for some reason. Does the car roll if you press the clutch?

I can't get pressure in the clutch. But it worked days ago when i took the KA out so I don't see how me unhooking the line would make it go bad. And I can get into 5th and reverse with normal range if motion but I can't get to any of the left gates for 1st and second.

are u bleeding it right and check how much gear oil is in the trans cause if it is low it i will be really hard to get in to gear cause i had that pro with my vert i took the trans and all out of my old coupe and it had like all most nun in it so after i put it in i was going to change it and befor i put the new in i went to shift the gears with the clutch in and it would not go in to 1st to 3rd so check that

bleed the slave cylinder and take that damn dampener box before or it will be a pain. It is by the frame rail right underneath the firewall on the passenger side. If not then did you put the clutch in correctly? seems it isn't engaging correctly.

It is jammed in gear! You answered your own question in this post. If you can't get to the gates then at least one of the shift rods is out of position. If the car still won't roll with your foot on the clutch then you are stuck in 2 gears at the same time. Take the shifter tower off(the whole base that is held to the trans by 6 bolts) and see if you can get to the shift rods. They should all be in the center position for the trans to be in neutral.

either what ^ said or you might have a bad pressure plate if you have no hydraulic pressure.

Don't pull it yet! take the shifter off like I said and see if you can get to the shift rods. That beats the hell out of pulling the trans. If everything looks good there then you pull it.

if you changed out the bell housing, one of the shift forks probably got bumped. if that happened, that would cause the "stuck in gear" symptoms. unfortunately, you would have to dismantle the trans again, take off the bell housing and move the shift forks into the "neutral" position and make sure you don't bump them putting the bell housing back on.

sucks, i know. i'd try to exhaust all other options before doing this. it's a PITA. i've replaced the trans/bell housing on my SR 3x now....
