View Full Version : Wheel Spacing?

I know it's been talked about and talked about, but I was reading xNotoriousGQx's recent post about wheel sizing to fit S13's, and I wonder- At 17 inches all the way around, will 8in. +27 offset in front, and 9in. +35 offset in back bring my wheels out evenly and CLOSE to my outer fender lips on a stock-bodied S13? I'm looking for new wheels now, and that is EXACTLY the look I'm going for...If those sizes are inaccurate, could someone please help with the correct sizing? I want those wheels as close to the edge as possible width-wise, without worrying too much about them rubbing in tight, slow corners (i.e. parking). Thanks in advance to all for the help!!

You sure can (if you don't mind some occasional rubbing) check this one out:

(Notice the camber in the back, that's the only way you can get 9's to fit)

You have the offsets wrong though... they should be more like this:
front 17x8 +35
rear 17x9 +30

But if you want an awesome fit (couldn't be flush-er ) go for the setup Alex Chang runs on his S-13:

Front 16x7.5" +26
Rear 16x8.5" +31

I'd say this is the ideal setup for an S-13, doesn't it look good?

What would be a good offset for 17x8's on all four corners?

+35 is proven to work, but I'd try to find +32 for a more aggressive look (the lip of the wheel will be flush with the fender but the tire will peek out just a little)... or even +30, if it rubs some, a machine shop can shave off a couple of millimiters from the backplate of the wheel.

Freak - Is that your car? that thing is sweet.

Could you run 8.5's in the back without the negative camber?? That's a mighty expensive tire to be buying every 6 months..

If your gonna run 17 x8 front and 17x 8.5's in back what kinda offset would you want? to gete the flush look?

Maybe even some tire sizes would be good

I'm not good w/ offset, but I can tell you tire sizes for a particular sized rim (assuming you mean width) going from slightly small to ideal to slightly large.

7.5" 205-215-225
8.0" 215-225-235
8.5" 225-235-245
9.0" 235-245-255

Freak: what did you lower your car with? Looks sweet!

BTW, what about 16" rim width and offset?

Thanks for all the help everyone! If anyone out there in S13 land knows of any other set-ups, feel free to keep posting! BTW, Freak and Alex, nice rides both!

Neither one of those two cars is mine, they belong to Alex and Makito in SoCal... I'm all the way in florida.

• JDM S13- The white car is running 16's
Front 16x7.5" +26
Rear 16x8.5" +31
And he runs the following suspension (he's an AutoX junkie):
5Zigen R-Rate springs
KYB AGX shocks
Cusco front/rear OS strut bars
Cusco rear triangle bar
Whiteline adjustable sway bars
Cusco pillowball upper mounts (front)
Remanufactured PDM front lower arms
w/Whiteline polyurethane bushings
Nissan OE tension rod w/Energy Suspension bushings

• sykikchimp- for 17's you'd run the same offset as 16's, it doesn't matter how tall the rim is when choosing offset, just make sure you run a lower profile tire on the 17's than you would on the 16's to keep the same rolling diameter. So it would be: 17x8 +35 and 17x8.5 +30/+32, and tires I'd recommend 225/45/17 and 245/40/17.

THIS IS MY CAR:

Except the wheels are going to be gunmetal as of tomorrow
