Just wondering, between cusco, jic, apexi, and tien. Which would be a good coil-over setup. I want something that would be good for the track and the street. Now i was looking to go with tien He, but i am worried about the rumor that tiens are prone to rusting. I want to know if jic are worth the extra cost. One more thing... How are the apexi N1?

Tein He's are pretty good (front:448 lbs/in; rear:336lbs/in and come with PB upper mounts). the HA's are a little softer spring rate due to the helper spring (front:336 lbs/in; rear:280 lbs/in) and are less ridged due to the lack of the PB upper mounts (which can be purchased as an option).  as for as the Cusco coilovers, i'm trying to decide which ones to get this winter (look at my post for details)... the JIC coilover are NICE!!! SSC just did a write up on them on their project Silvia. i have no idea about the Apexi.  as for the Tein's rusting... i've never seen a problem, and neither has anyone i know that owns them.

hope this helps,

Oh god, here we go again.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

I argued about coil-overs a bit too much on the last post like this. &nbsp;It was called "Ground Controls", I believe, and it's probably only a few pages back...

I Just saw these coil overs, recently. &nbsp;They look good. &nbsp;I would find more out about them if I were you. &nbsp;

They're on this page:

Tein Coil overs are good, too, and not that expensive. &nbsp;

Im looking at the Tein set myself. &nbsp;I have a real stupid question that is bothering me though. &nbsp;Does this replace everything on these coil overs? &nbsp;I mean do you need shocks and whatnot?

Hey, I checked out the dampers on the site Luke gave and they seem pretty good but expensive, over $2300 without shipping.

The shocks are 4 way adjustable up front and 8 way in back. Also the pillow-upper mounts allow you to adjust camber and caster. All four are height adjustable too.

Have you guys checked out the sequential shifter for the S13 on that sight? seems pretty cool.

SSJ2Gohan, a coilover incorporates the spring and shock into one unit. &nbsp;In mose cases, it will replace both and be on solid unit (Tien, Apexi, JIC, etc). &nbsp;In some cases, you have to get shocks for them (ground contols, I think).

As far as the Apexi N1 coilovers:
I just got my car back from having these installed today. &nbsp;And I have mixed reactions. &nbsp;The quality of these is top notch. &nbsp;They came with pillow ball mounts and are adjustable for hieght and dampening.
I got a really good deal on them, so I figured I'd go for it. &nbsp;I got them installed and had the shop set them to a 1.5" drop.
Now on Apexi's site, it says they are 13 way dampening adjustable, however, the fronts turn 22 clicks, while the rears turn almost 30. &nbsp;That was a bit concerning.
With all 4 turned about 4 clicks from the tightest, the car is really stiff. &nbsp;Around smooth turns the car is amazing! &nbsp;It's rough over pot holes, etc. But the problem is around turns with bumps or breaks in the pavement, the car hits hard and almost jumps toward the outside of the turn. &nbsp;This made me uneasy when taking turns fast. &nbsp;
So, I turned the dampers down 4 more clicks (8 from tightest) and it help alot. &nbsp;However the car seems kinda bouncy over gentle or repetitive bumps. &nbsp;Almost as if the dampers aren't strong enough to keep the springs from bouncing more than they should.
The spring rates are rather high (8kg/mm front, 6kg/mm rear). &nbsp;I'm thinking the spring rates are just too high for a daily driven street car. &nbsp;You can compare spring rates in the Archives section of the forums to other coilovers.

On the track or at an autocross, I'm sure the coilovers will be perfect. &nbsp;But for street driving, I think they might be a little much. &nbsp;I'll post back after I try playing with the dampers more. &nbsp;Any suggestions would be very helpful.
