Okay guys, I got a question for ya. Early in the morning, the first few times I shift, my clutch chatters a bit. I've only had this happen in one other car, and the clutch and pressure plate were almost toast. In addition to chattering, it doesn't have as much bite when shifting as it used to. Mind you, I've only had the car for a month or two now... but I'm thinking my pressure plate is getting glazed, especially after this one time in the rain. Long story short, I accidentally dropped 5th instead of 3rd and made my car smell like clutch for a day... This was about 3 weeks ago though.

Any input? What kinda clutch should I get? I'm looking for something inexpensive, with more clamping force than stock, without being excessively harsh (like a 3 puck clutch is).

Your clutch is pretty much toast. Or you have worped your flywheel.

Either way a new clutch and flywheel re-surfaced is going to be your only fix.

Dang. She holds up to WOT just fine... not slipping while driving. That blows. Oh well, any suggestions on a clutch?

unfortunatly, once organic materials are overheated they are never the same. Most likely the flywheel is warped and causing the chatter, you shoulld replace the clutch anyway if your going to resurface.
I have an exedy stage 2. Im running high 11's and have been daily driving 70 miles a day on this clutch for over 2 years. If you dont require this high of torque holding capacity then dont get this clutch. You will experience frequent chatter from a stop and partial engagement. If you are making 250 ft. lb. or less than i would rec. Spec, Exedy stage 1, or O.E. I do not rec. Centerforce.

Why don't you recommend centerforce, even for an OE replacement?

I thought about getting the exedy stage 1. I want something with a little more bite, without being harsh. I've also heard good things about their stage 1, and it is fairly inexpensive.
