View Full Version : Bypassing CAS?

Alright so long story short,

My friend has a Z32 tranny on his KA.

There was no spot on the tranny to put the Crank Angle Sensor.
So he didnt connect the wires to anything.

He's been running his car like this for almost a year.
Then one day, a meet gets raided and he gets sent to state ref.

He put everything back to stock, but its still throwing some codes, CAS being one of them.

Is there any way to bypass or do something so that the CEL doesnt light up for that code?

No bullshit answers like..."pull out the CEL lightbulb"

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well he's OBDII if he has a CAS so pulling the CEL won't do anything, cuz it gets plugged in... find a resistor that'll make it pretend its connected

you could probably drill a hole in the bell housing like the stock S14 one for it as well. isn't it just a magnetic pickup? it has to point at the teeth on the flywheel, nothing more.

jb weld one on or something. or use the fake one like a reistor. or a o2 similator. theres got to b a way to make a fake one haha.

wire the cel to the abs light?

when does it throw the code?

Drill the hole, put sensor in, plug sensor up. Problem solved forever.

Drill the hole, put sensor in, plug sensor up. Problem solved forever.

I've done this on two s14's with s13 tranns with NO issue.

You could simply wire the bulb into the ABS or oil pressure bulb circuit with some wire and 2 scotch locks than remove it afterwards however the code will still be in the computer. If all they perform is a bulb check than you should be fine.

Nah he's at the state ref. they just plugged in the diagnostic.

I might tell my friend to try drilling a hole.

Does anyone know the exact size resistor?

There is no resistor that will work...

He'll need the sensor installed, and reading off the flywheel. That's all there is to it.

Thanks.
Last question:
Does it have to be mounted to the top of the tranny or just anywhere it can read off the flywheel in the same manner?

Anywhere, just as long as it's lined up to the teeth. It's mounted to the top from the factory to keep trash and debris from clogging it up from the clutch wearing down, or oil contamination from a rear main leak.
