so my apr wing came in but i'm stumped on how to properly mount it.
the problem i'm having is with the curvature of the s14 trunk. if you simply bolt the wing legs onto the trunk they are not vertical but slightly slanted and you can't just crank on the legs b/c that would destroy the trunk. i drew up a quik picture in paint to better explain what i'm talking about. the immage is the curve of the trunk with the wing legs bolted on. the top one is what happens when you just bolt it on and the bottom one is what i need it to be. any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm sure some body/ more experienced person knows some trick to making this work but i'm not smart enough to figure it out.

I assume the legs are "L" shaped. Can you bend the bases of the legs at all to make them vertical when they are bolted to the trunk?

i would try bolting them to the wing first, so they HAVE to stay perpendicular, and then bolt them down the the trunk
idk, but you could try it..

go to a sheet metal shop and have them put the stands in a breaker and bend them little by little or get custom ones made for $20-$50 depending on how much they like you

get some rubber or polyurethane and make some wedges to bring the stands back to where they need to be

^^not a good idea in the long run. you spend all that time trimming hard ass rubber up and it will never be 2 matching pieces it could lead to water leaks and all sorts of ugly. close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. apr wing=aluminum stands=you wont even have to heat it to bend it a few degrees and the bend will be so slight you'll barely notice it if thats what you're worried about.
ive been in alabama a few months now and i already have a shop who lets me come in and use their equipment for $5 an hour try setting something like that up it comes in handy on down the road i promise

hm.. i like the bending idea i might just try that and see how that goes.
think i could bend it with a vice?
the stays are the same as the ones in this pic. if i clamp off the bottom inch and then bend the three smaller peices going to the top how would i make sure i bend them evenly? could i maybe clamp some wood on either side? anyone got a trick for this?

or would i maybe be better off doing something like this? this is from a 350z which also has a curve on the trunk

that's a fantastic idea. but you are gonna have to cut a nice hole in your trunk. Also make sure you seal it correctly to avoid water leaks if you are planning to do that...

bending in a vice wouldnt be a problem using thin pieces of wood to avoid scratches is a good idea.
just make sure you either have or make a tool to measure the angle you want and take it easy when you bend aluminum is easy to snap if you rush it

heating it up before you bend would make it easier too.... perhaps a heat gun. Don't forget to use thick gloves when handling hot metal!

hey what about just making some custome brackets out of 1/4 inch angle iron? would 1/4 in be strong enough?
making brackets would hands down be the easiest way i think.

It's your car but know this...every time you mount a spoiler on a 240 or Z God kills a kitten. Ponder that.

Those stands look bendable the way he needs them to be bent.
