Nice spelling. Ever heard of commas and periods? spellcheck?
No wonder why you have so many red bars.

change your radiator cap

I'd check the thermostat first and see if it works. Or just put a new one in for the hell of it while it's open, since they are only like 7 bucks.

I agree with the other guys, check your thermostat. Those things are known to have a high failure rate. Also check out your water pump.

to check your thermostat just touch the upper radiator hose and bottom radiator hose while its hot...and see if they are the same temperature. if they ARE. then most probably your water pump.....if they are not the same temperature...then your thermostat is shot

Get a Fail-Safe. We sell em at AutoZone and I only hear good things about them.

well i drove around today for a good 20 minutes, it didnt over heat at all, stayed in the middle the whole time. parked and felt the hoses, and the bottom one is hot, but the top one is a lil bit hotter, not by much though.

have you done anything to fix the overheating problem though?
sometimes thermostats are finicky and don't always open when they're suppose too (i.e. stopped at a red light). first thing you should do is bleed your system for a good 5-10 min just to be on the safe side. buy another thermostat seeing as they're less than $10 and while your at it a new radiator cap. it's just good ol' preventative maintenance.
how long has it been since you've changed your radiator hoses? if you'll be changing your thermostat and see even the slightest of wear on either hose I'd ditch both and get some new ones.

hey guys, i put in a new thermostat, jacked the car up from the front, and added coolant and turned the car on without the radiator cap and let it idle, but it wouldnt stop bubbling and coolant started pouring out alot so i turned it off, is it supposed to do this?
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 12:03 AM
just drove it around a lil bit and within 10 minutes or the temp started to go up almost to the H again so i parked it, and the lower hose still isnt getting hot.

Losin' coolent??Is there any crazy white smoke pourin' out the back when you start the vehicle? how long has it been since the water pump was changed?
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 11:26 AM
no white smoke, havnt changed the pump
240boy90
12-16-2007, 02:15 PM
kool...sounds minor...howd the water pump go?
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 02:49 PM
havnt changed the pump, im thinking i didnt bleed it right sence i stopped cuz it was bubbling coolant out during the bleeding process
headgasket?
if its continous bubbles and making bleeidng the impossible

s13boy, did you remove bleeder screw near the intake manifold when bleeding it?
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 04:17 PM
no i didnt touch the bleeder screw, am i supposed to bleed it with that screw out and the rad cap on that way?
DreamN
12-16-2007, 04:30 PM
screw off, cap off, jacked up front, and for 5-10 min or until you don't see any bubbles coming from the bleeder hole. also, it's not a bad thing to squeeze both top and bottom hoses while doing this, just don't get burned or anything.
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 04:39 PM
are there supposed to be a bunch of big bubbles coming out of the radiator too when i do this? i was getting coolant everywhere when i did this
DreamN
12-16-2007, 04:43 PM
nope. something is f'ed. bad radiator maybe, try it without the thermostat installed and see what the outcome is?
s13boy89
12-16-2007, 05:22 PM
so its not supposed to bubble that bad?

so did you have the radiator cap off when you were using the bleeder screw. u supposed to have the cap on when ur using the bleeder screw
s13boy89

i never did the bleeder screw, but right now i just drove the car hard and the temputure is staying stable.

You need to get very in depth with this problem. I am in the process of changing my hg because of over heating. It lasted about nine months with it blown hg(no oil and water mixing) but it let go all of a sudden last week.
I guess I'm saying watch out, it'll go from ok to a one ton paper wait real quick.

Its all good s13boy. Just follow the protocal for it man. Grab that new water pump when ever you can and dont forget to flush that radiator like a mother. I usually just grab the hoes and have the water force down any deposits that might be stuck at the bottom of the rad. It might have been something as little as some sludge since you said the bottom of your radiator was still cooler that the top. After this youll even notice a little drop on the temp needle while ur driving :) So just check on it periodically to see if theres any change in the water level and also check to see if theres any water in ur oil, this will be a sign of a bad HG.

Wow (kingkilburn)!...no water or oil mix? did you ever figure out what it was? Was it bcuz there was no water or oil to mix to begin with?

well i was driving it earlier and no problems, i even drove the shit out of it and had stable temperture, but then i drove it again and it started reading HOT after only 10 minutes and it was COLD outside. i tried bleeding through the lil screw hole only, but it just keeps bubbling out. i did this for like 15 minutes.
240boy90
12-17-2007, 12:53 AM
so did you do any of the above that was stated besides the new thermostat and bleed?
SnakeKack
12-17-2007, 12:54 AM
Hmm this is starting to sound like my problem...But I think I ruled it out as Headgasket for me since the thermo and waterpump are brand new as well as flushed the system. But I overheat when the car is level but not when the front end is jacked up. I bled the system of air 5-6 times.
And when I first start the car up the smoke is real white but it dies down...but then it comes back some times when idling....
It's f'n cold up here too. Northwest Ohio....Thank god I am moving back to Florida by the time it is next winter....
DreamN
12-17-2007, 12:56 AM
^ yeah, definitely sounds like your headgasket.
s13boy89
12-17-2007, 12:58 AM
yeha i have no smoke, and just changed the thermo and keep bleeding it but there is and endless supply of bubble coming out of the bleeder do i have to wait forever
240boy90
12-17-2007, 01:01 AM
there you go s13 boy. follow (SNAKEKACKS) protocal. I hope its not the HG...........

Check your headgasket by doing a compression test....
http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=159838
If your head gasket checks out okay, then chances are your radiator is clogged with calcium deposits. You'll have to have it chemically cleaned at a radiator shop or you can go & buy a new one. It's cheaper to have it chemically cleaned but you just need to make sure the radiator shop does a good job putting it back together after they cleaned it.
Anyhow, here's a link to how your cooling system works....
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cooling-system.htm
Hope this helps..

around how long should i have to wait till it stops bubbling when im airing the system out?
brewster240
12-17-2007, 04:29 AM
you dont have to have the cap off when using the bleeder screw.
s13boy89
12-17-2007, 11:32 AM
around how long should it take? and do u think a bad pump can be why air keeps coming out when i air it out?
kingkilburn
12-17-2007, 01:13 PM
It should only take 3 to 5 mins to bleed the system. If it keeps bubbling that is combustion gases going into the cooling system rather than the exhaust.
kingkilburn
12-17-2007, 01:17 PM
Wow (kingkilburn)!...no water or oil mix? did you ever figure out what it was? Was it bcuz there was no water or oil to mix to begin with?
My head gasket was blown in an area that allowed combustion gases in to the cooling system but not oil. That is bad for the water jackets as it promotes oxidation.
s13boy89
12-17-2007, 01:28 PM
well i did it for like 15 minutes out of the bleeder and it wont stop bubbling so u sure that its the HG?
Yes.
It'll take me no more than 5 mins to bleed the system.
If you had your heater on, and continuous bubbling, its your head gasket
No if you keep bleeding it wont go away.
Just accept the fact and repair it.

Check to see if your water pump is working or if your thermostat is closed.

12-17-2007, 01:51 PM
If you keep getting bubbles in the cooling system then you may have (like everyone else said) a blown head gasket or worst case a crack on the block or head.

12-17-2007, 02:15 PM
B/F you install a new thermostat your suppose to pre-heat and make sure it opens up all the way. Sometimes with a new thermo they will not open on the first attempt.
Also to check for a blown head gasket use a block tester you can pickup at your local part store. It checks for Gases in your coolant.

12-17-2007, 06:13 PM
well i let it bleed more and it stopped bubbling and it was just coolant coming out of the bleeder hole, so i drove it pretty hard for a good 15 minutes and the temp stayed a lil under half the whole time. im going to let it cool off and drive it again and see if it overheats
ranger240
12-17-2007, 10:22 PM
i dont give a shit about these neg-repping assholes, when my car was overheating, it was a stupid radiator cap, they wear out, and the lossed pressure in your radiator causes it to overheat.... its h.s. chem class shit. pressure/boiling points..
its a $10 piece to replace that wear item (fsm had an estimated milage of how long they last, i want to say 75,000) that cap with a flush fixed it for me, way cheaper than replacing all that other crap. might be something worth trying
kingkilburn
12-18-2007, 07:42 AM
If it was only his radiator cap it would still be easily bleedable.

i never did the bleeder screw, but right now i just drove the car hard and the temputure is staying stable.
Holy crap, that is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard  Please sell your car to someone who will maintain it.
well i let it bleed more and it stopped bubbling and it was just coolant coming out of the bleeder hole, so i drove it pretty hard for a good 15 minutes and the temp stayed a lil under half the whole time. im going to let it cool off and drive it again and see if it overheats
Nevermind. This is the most ignorant thing. Seriously just fix the problem and quit wasting time "driving your car hard" hoping the problem will go away. Cars are not magical like Unicorns and Ligers. Log off, fix the head gasket and replace the thermo while you're at it. Make sure the jiggle valve goes up.
juss crack the bleeder screw and then keep pouring coolent in.
thas how i pour my water in. and let it run and idle for a bit and check back.
when it does get hot and while its running and cap it on. do you hear bubble'ing from anywhere?
like;
resvoir. inside radiator.?
if so you might have a bad headgasket from running to hot. and or you cap kould b weak now.
s13boy89
12-18-2007, 10:02 AM
well yesterday i bleed it and bubbles stopped coming out of the bleeder valve, and i tried another cap i had laying around, drove it 3 times a good 15 min each and temp was stable the whole time. maybe the new failsafe thermo was just sticky
