are there any available?
looking for 1.00mm os or 0.040" os
nissan used to carry them, however they are discontinued now, and everyone carries forged pistons

kragen/checker carries the brand clevite, however i'm hesistant to use them. i see some builders use their bearings, but i'm unsure about their pistons/rings.

does anyone know a reliable brand for racing? i cannot use forged unless the oem ones come forged. spec rules allow me to run same shape, size and diameter, with exclusion to oversize only.

good luck man. Try ebay or something. Or just search search search!!! google. Someones gotta carry a set somewhere. Ive never heard anything bad about clevite bearings, and i know quite a few people using them. They're pistons are probably just as good. Just search "clevite piston reviews" on google.

do they check?

"if they can't see it, it must be legal"

i've seen some pistons on ebay. they're going for under 100 for the set, rings, pistons and pins. i can imagine them blowing up. i'm going to be spending quite a bit on building the motor, i'd like good pistons.

at the end of the season, top 3 tear down their motors. plus, it'd look very suspicious if a rookie came in and started winning races immediately.

yes, their catalog says they carry them, if you click on the item, there is a TSB about them. if you call courtesy like i did, you will speak to butch and he'll tell you that nissan no longer makes them.

has anyone else heard of clevite? i just got one reputable guy. no offense dude, i appreciate you vouching for them, but its my motor on the line. my budget doesn't allow me to rebuild every race

I would just get the Clevite's. They've been around forever, literally. The Clevite brand was also bought out by Mahle recently, if that means anything to you.

there are engines i put together years ago still using clevite parts not a problem yet.
but it IS your engine and if you're iffy about using clevite parts, why not just mill the head a little? whose gonna know the difference? run some royal purple too. all the free horsepower tricks et c.

Was it the Late Model Altama KA pistons that the ring lands were farther down the skirt?

Doesn't Wiseco make a set or would those also be illegal for the league you want to compete in?

i can mill the head 0.025, here's the specific rule regarding pistons:

"Engines may be bored to a maximum of .040 inch over standard bore size. Factory replacement pistons or their equivalent with the exception of diameter shall be used. Cast or forged equivalent pistons shall provide the same dome/dish/valve relief configuration, ring groove width and spacing, pin height relationship, weigh no less than the factory standard bore pistons. Piston rings are unrestricted."

that means that i can't run forged because they are significantly lighter over the standard piston.

honestly, they are not going to pull your head off to inspect your pistons to make sure they are legal, dont worry about it...

98-01 Altima pistons have slightly stronger ringlands. There was a design change to help prevent oil blowby which was common on the 93-97 models as they approached higher mileage. I would expect though that any auto parts retailer will carry OTC no name pistons for all 93-01 models and they will not be any better than the older OE units would be. In other words, buy the newer OE pistons from the dealer or go big.
Just get some of those.

hmm, i guess the scca organization is pretty lenient huh?

guys, i'm not going to cheat, that's just dumb.

altima pistons, besides the stronger ringlands, is there any shape difference? dome/dish shape? compression change? does it look nearly identical?
