Does the spindle need to be pressed onto the lca? Because I can get about 4 threads through the top, and if I try to thread a nut, the ball-joint just spins.

sorta you just gotta push it down real hard so the ball joint seats then it wont spin anymore but you shouldnt need a press at all

yeah that works too, but if you dont have one try tapping the bottom of the lca with a hammer, or better yet put the ball joint in and start the threads then jack up the car from the lca

Thanks guys, just realized there is a small layer of corrosion/rust inside the spindle hole, gonna clean that out and then lube it real good. And if it's still having some problems I'm gonna try tt90l's idea.
Thanks again.

So no dice. Can't get it any further than about 4 threads up. These are s14 spindles and lca's right?

This is about as far as I can get it

and this is the ball joint, do I have the wrong ball joint?

I'm going to run to napa and see if I can't grab some new ball joints and test those.

Either the ball joint or the nut is damaged. Typical when people remove them, they smack it with a hammer, crowning the threads.

for some weird fu##ing reason, the ball joints on there were'nt the right ones, maybe the ones originally on there were bad, so the junkyard took it upon itself to change them with different ones that were'nt so horrible. Well, got new ones out of it, yay napa...

Actually yes, but the whole story is, I bought an s14 shell, it had been wrecked, put it back together, but the previous owner took the front lca's and spindle to put on his s13, so I bought some lca's and spindles from a nissan only wrecker (sunrise nissan). And am trying to put it together. But it's an se and was 5-lug before, but I have some ichiba hubs that'll go on nicely.

I would have just used a floor jack and forced it in but that's me....

i tried the floor jack thing, actually I tried to janky-rig a couple of different ways, but without a butt-load of pressure to completely distort that spindle hole it wasn't gonna happen.
