View Full Version : Having startup troubles
Well, when i start the car the RPM goes up to 1,300 then falls dramatically down to about 100 and the whole car shakes hard! I have to start the car and hold the gas down to get it working good, and sometimes when i start the car and hold the gas down, the car will just about die. Any ideas what this could be?

I think you made him sit + think :)
It's a S14 SR20DET. And yes it just started to do it. I'm running An Intercooler and HKS Bov. I'm pretty sure it started after i installed the intercooler and bov. After the engine is warm, it doesnt have this problem. Just if it sits for about 2 hours or more.

well...You installed a FMIC on the car. (XSPOWER?)
and this occurrence began.
Have you checked for any Vacuum leaks??
Do you have all your vacuum hoses on right?
Others things to check: Timing, Spark plug gap, 02 Sensor, If you are runing a piggyback Check that. SAFC etc, Injectors...

agreed. try borrowing a sensor from someone and switching it. I thought it might be your maf...but you said after it warms up it stops.

and incase you have no idea what the temp sensor is...its located under the intake manifold.

Ok cool! Thanks a lot guys. If it was a bad temp sensor, would my temp be reading correctly when the car is warm? Because it stays directly in the middle of H C when the car is warmed up! Thanks a lot guys, appreciate it.

The ecu would read the temp incorrectly, the gauge you read is from a different sensor.
