Anyone had this happen? The metal shaving-looking insulation along with the mesh cage stuff is stopping-up my muffler.
I started pulling it out, but thought that maybe I shouldn't because that stuff serves a purpose. Any way to repair, I like my muffler. :-/

i was driving behind a honduh the other day and saw this happening right in front of me. Looked like a cat tail coming out of his exhaust.

Yeah, that steel wool is what muffles in the muffler... Only way to fix it is to buy a new one.. OR you can use a torch, cut open the muffler or resonator repack the muffler and then weld it back together....

^^That works. I'm gonna be doing that to an old eBay-ish catback I have lying around just to see if I can actually make it sound halfway decent. lol
