Hi all. I am trying to decide wheter to get the Haltech E8 direct plug in , managment system for my car.
I was wondering, from guys that use this - How are the OEM Auxiliries functioning with this ECU ?
I refer to the things like AC/Heater/Windo defroster/Warning lights and Guges on the Dash/ETC...
I know all of these, and others, pass thru the ECU to work - I was wondering how the Haltech manages these - if it does.
I really dont want to give up any of the OEM fuctionality.
Thanks.

Well, the thing with the E8, is that to have all the axileries working, like RoadSpeed Gauge, AC, etc.... You are left with only one spare output.
If you want to add a shift light and another fan, for example - you cant do both.
Allso not sure how it works with the O2 heater control, but looks like you need to waste another output, for it to work.
Allso, for inputs, the Digital Inputs are only 2, while 1 ofthem is wasted just for the activation of the AC....wich leaves you only with one, to use for ROAD SPEED input - i pressume to allow some loging, or something.
You do have 3 spare analog inputs, wich you can use for WideBand, and so on.....
What bodders me here, is that i dont see a USER DEFINED input..... If i want to hook up and EGT, to be able to log it, or something....
Allso, i wich i could find the full documentation, and not just what comes as HELP in the program.
It seems , the WOT map, is not based on load - only RPM - not sure how this would work....
I looked into AEM, and WOLF - WOLFV500 looks amazing, and best thing about it are the VIDEO tutor sesions you can learn how to use the system from - downloadable from there site.
The price of the WOLF is way higher tho.
AEM, is featured packaed - its realy way more TUNABLE than the Haltech - the software is kind of unfrendly - and i realy cant seem to find my way around it.
BTW: The Haltech E11, would allow for more inputs, but its almost 400$ more - and it gets into the WOLF range, wich seems to be superior.
Not sure wat to go for really.
Comes down to 2, considering my budget - Haltech E8 or AEM.
Haltech =
Pros: Frendly, does what its suposed to, pretty confident i can tune it myself.
Cons: limiting for me, as i like to have all the info on all the sensord etc, and i dont see how i can monitor Knock and EGT - wich is a bit of a shame. Heck - even me Greddy E01 boost controller, has my EGT loged and displayed in real time.
AEM =
Pros: Unlimited features and tunability , you can log anything you want - and eerything is suported - EGT's, Knock.....
Cons: You can do the above if you get how to do it, as the software is like chineese - very unfrendly - meaby if i had the documentation, it would be better.
There is new software out - not much better, but better.
Check out the http://www.wolfems.com 500 series, to see the difrences to the above. Only downside exept the price, is that it doesnt apear to have lunch control/antilag.
Allso, could find a base map for the S14.
Side note - All the systems above are PLUG and PLAY with the SR20DET.

Your not going to tune your car right on the street by watching knock
your just going to blow your shit up.
Thats why haltech doesnt even included it. You can if you wanted add an additional input and configure the voltage, I know you can do this with the E11 and just watch the resistance change as a value of knock, or you can do it the way the pros do and buy a knock box for listening to knock, thats the only way I would go (in fact we might be getting one for the DYNO!!!!). Just for extra extra back up.
EGT's are going to help, but why is the dyno so out of the dam question for you ?

There is one, but for the price they'r asking for a sesion, i could get another StandAlone. Allso, iam not sure its the type of dyno that can apply difrent loads etc.
To be able to go to the dyno, for me, means that i need to be 100% familiar with the system, and realy use it just for final tuches.
To get tht fat, i need to basicly base tune it on the road....
