ok so my sohc has taken a turn for the worst, ill start out by saying i have a 89 240sx with the stock ka24e 200k+ miles. anyways my water pump went out i replaced it, to find out that my radiator is also cracked. i replace my radiator get my car up and running. shortly after replacing the radiator i noticed lots of white smoke coming out of my exhaust when warming up for the first couple of minutes. i thought its just steam and the cold weather so i let it warm up, no water leaking from under so i go around the block for a test drive. right from the start i noticed my car running like shit, rpm's all over the place when idling, and real rough on low rpm's. so driving no more than 3 or 4 blocks my temp is about 2 lines away from the bold H lines. i get home real quick to check it out and i notice that a bit of oil has leaked from the left side of the valve cover. so i try and start up again and its not starting, its at the verge of starting but it doesn't. i let it sit for a bit, and it starts up with the white smoke again, so i let it idle for a good 15 minutes the white smoke goes away, and its at the normal temp about the second line. i go around the block again and the temp goes up to the same H point as before. can you guys please help me out.:bash:

white smoke= burning coolant...not a leak outside the engine...maybe you have a leaking headgasket or cracked water passage. your gonna want to do a compression test and a maybe leakdown if you can access the equipment needed.

The white smoke = bad headgasket. Do you mean just hot air that looks white? Im think it's just the cold weather. I think your problem is you need to bleed out the air out of your cooling system at the moment. Make sure you did that right.

Headgasket.

Your broken waterpump and cracked radiator probably let the engine overheat leading to a bad headgasket.

Good Luck!

when you changed your water pump your should of changed your thermostat as well. sounds like it could be either head gasket or thermostat no opening up.
